Again, thanks for the replies.
I spent hardly any time on the car today. It's come down maybe an inch.
Here's a question for anyone who may know. ... remote brake servos? What's the crack?
I've never come across them before, but really my existing servo is the limiting factor in lowering the front and id like to explore my options

Love the concept drawings! Hmm. Space disco sounds interesting. But I've never really thought of it as anything other than a modified espace really. Also, at the risk of offending some, I'm a little reluctant to label it in any way as a land rover, because I don't actually like land rovers very much. I don't think they deserve the reverence that they're shown. But anyway, naming the baby is the least of my concerns at the minute. So, I wouldn't really label yesterday's brief time spent with the car as progress, more a development. But worthy of an update nonetheless. I had been wondering ever since I first introduced the espace to the landy, what will I do with the front end. Lots of options, but the wrong one Could ruin the look totally. So tonight I was sat, with a cup of tea, just looking at the bare front end. For about an hour. Pondering how to cut the front, wether to use box section / plate? Do I keep the landy bumper? Etc etc. Then, when the time came to finish "work " and go inside to watch the tt highlights, I had a quick tidy up. Purely in the interest of tidyness, I placed the original espace bonnet and bumper on the car. Wow! It looks mint! With the landy bumper removed, it looks dead tidy, and almost factory look. What do you reckon? Please ignore the squiffy headlight. A slight misdemeanour with the tractor was to blame. But don't worry it's easily repairable.  Seeing it like this has motivated me again to make a good job of this project. More progress to come!

Yep, I'd definitely stick with a stocking looking renault front end. Looks pretty good to me mate.

Yes, the standard front end looks really right there.

Hmmm....why does this exercise seem so familiar. retrorides.proboards.com/thread/179752/1973-volvo-p1800es-chassis-conversionGood news is that it is like 8 months later and I am sort of recovered, so there is hope for the afflicted. Grinder dust and beer seem to be the tonic. Looking forward to where you are going with the Espace. Have you seen the one that was dropped over a F1 chassis?

The lexspace is a special build. I have known about it for a while and can't help but admire it!
As a matter of fact, not long ago I was really considering space framing my espace and dropping the lexus lump in, and rear axle. But then the landy came up cheap so I went down that route instead. Maybe one day in the future I'll swap the current 3.9 for the lexus v8. Ithe seems to be a more refined thing.
Another idea I'm toying with is this... selling my manual landy gearbox, and replacing it with auto. Partly to raise funds, but also so I only need to squeeze 2 pedals into the heavily reduced footwell!
Nah.

Easy enough conversion, the 4 speed ZF box they used in that age of Discovery works really well with a 3.9 to boot.
If you changed your mind.

Ever wondered what happens when an lpg pipe splits...... Scary stuff! ...A frustrating weekend really, this little incident put a stop to all the cutting I was doing with the angle grinder! Also, the previous owner had told me the clutch fork had worn through and broke (common problem). So, I lifted the espace off and removed the gearbox on Friday, only to find there's nothing wrong with the clutch fork. It actually looks nothing like a disco 1 fork either. Strange. No apparent problems with the clutch plates or thrust bearing either. All a bit annoying really, and seemingly a waste of time. It's all back together now though and I've tested the clutch. Not sure what the problem was, maybe a leak in the hydraulic pipe. Anyway, a little more cutting of sticky out bits on the espace, and the body should go on for the last time tomorrow. Can't wait for the putting stuff together part now! Later

There must be something wrong with the lpg system for a pipe to leak like that, there should be a solenoid on the tank which shuts off gas to the front end and a check valve on the fill pipe in the tank.
Zf 4 speed is a good box, have one on my 87 range rover, which still works well after 160,000 miles. The only thing which happens is the output drive chain gets a bit loose which gives a clonk going from forward ton reverse, and tge fuel consumption particiularly around town will get worse.

Would a solenoid work only if the battery was connected? There are 2 isolator valves on the top of the tank. One to stop flow into the tank, and one to stop flow out. Because I isolated the lpg when the Disco body was still attached, and the valves werent in a place I could clearly see, I thought there was only one valve and had obviously closed only the ingress one. Anyway I shut both valves on the lpg tanks and have now removed both tanks completely to avert any further disasters!
