I'd maybe not use those tyres on the road, they are motorcycle tyres and only rated to 243KG! D: The Acty is plenty light enough. Especially at the front. if it’s good enough for the rear of piaggio ape it’s good enough for the front of the Acty.

Will look cool though, no doubt about that Yeah I see where you’re coming from and I’ll do some off-road tests - probably around a local track to check for performance to see if it’s an improvement on standard tyres.

Sneaked a bit of truck time so cleaned off the tyre soap and took a couple more photos... Drilled a couple more holes for the battery cables and painted the bare metal although the holes seem camera shy... I’ve got a couple more hours tomorrow so hopefully I’ll get the brace built, secured in place and cables routed through even if they’re not connected up.

Grommets in ... Holes in battery box and grommets in... Nut fitted to threaded rod that was already correct length... Second rod cut down with a hacksaw... Both fitted with a nut inside the battery box, box is solid at this point ... More metal left over from previous builds cut... And drilled to become a battery brace... Lots of electrical tape applied to avoid accidental shorting and battery terminals fitted ... Nyloc nuts keeping the brace and battery and box all firmly in place... Checking lid still fits... The old earth strap I’m replacing... As the earth point for the horn seemed strong enough i decided to use the same point for the battery earth point but cleared a bit of bare metal back first, would have used a wire wheel attachment if I had one but this seemed to do it eventually... Fitted and tucked in to the groove where the spare wheel bracket used to slot with a cable tie routed though to keep it in place... Threaded through, I need to get a ring connector or swap the clamp for one with a cable clamp built in before I’ve finished... Onto the positive connections then, the red cable is left from my Elgrand audio work, testing fuse holder locations, and first cable routed through at this point... I don’t have the connectors yet so just cable tied the cables together so I know which ones to pair up once I’ve bought the connectors... Four positive cables in total, each will have a separate fuse holder, and I’ve also found a distribution box in my left over bits box so I’ll have the red cable running into it with a cable leading out of each output into its own fuse holder...

Extend panel, omit wheel arch, win at everything. Battery box is a very nice install, it looks like a tool box in the bed so you wouldn't even think to look there for a battery if you didn't know.

Battery box is a very nice install, it looks like a tool box in the bed so you wouldn't even think to look there for a battery if you didn't know. i'd be sticking the ubiquitous 'no tools' sticker on there.....open bed, a box that looks like a tool box? you know some scrote is gonna take a go at it? looking good, now we just need to see it cruising around the Chase more 😎 If I used it on normal days I would but as it is I only bring it out for play days / meets / shows. But definitely agree about needing to take it out to play more!

I spent a few hours on the Acty today. Making slow progress but progress all the same. First job was to relocate the horn and cigar adaptor cables that I’d fitted before the MOT in December albeit across the floor of the cab. Today’s job was to route them out through a grommet in the floor near to the front panel and along the underside up to the horn and battery respectively. Through the grommet... Out they come... I learned this trick from threading elastic through fishing poles, a stiff garden wire threaded through the area between the floor and metal undertray first to the hole at the other end... Wire attached to the cables... Out they come... From that point I routed them through relevant gaps and cable tied them to standard cables at various points before routing the horn switch cable to the horn and the cigar adaptor cable to the battery box. Next I moved on to getting the indicators working again - they stopped working on the way back from the mot in December- I thought it was because of loose battery connections so planned to investigate after I’d relocated the battery if the issue still remained. Still remain it did so... First of all I confirmed that the hazards work and the indicators don’t so had to be a difference between the two meaning imho that bulbs were out and fuses proved all fine too. Then the rest was all down to the helpful answers on here letting me know that it was worthwhile taking bits apart so it was off with the steering wheel (19mm nut) and lower column cowling (2 bolts and 4 screws)... Stalks and switch unit removed (2 bolts accessible with indicators switched in either direction for each bolt) and here’s the reverse of the unit.. Once I knew that the hazard switch was simple crossed over connections to the indicators switch I knew the problem had to be specifically to the stalk switch so I tested with a bit of cable connected to relevant solder points on back of indicator switch ... and they worked! So I tried the stalk again and that worked?! I can only assume by removing it I dislodged a blockage or improved the connection somehow. I plan to clean it all out but for now I put it back together and retested after each bit was refitted to check none of the refits caused them to stop working again. So now I’m just waiting on two fuse holders for the horn and cigar adaptor cables to connect to the battery and a trip to get the exhaust relocated to exit where the battery once sat before I’m happy to tootle about in her putting a silly grin on my face.

Blade fuse holders arrived. £1.99 for two including postage. I connected them to existing cables I’d routed through on Saturday, fitted 8mm ring terminals for the battery posts, sealed the joints with self amalgamating tape, and connected everything up. I then fitted a fuse in one and tested to check which one was which and labelled accordingly using my finest citadel miniatures painting skills in dwarf bronze... With the adaptor back in action I could pump the tyre up that had gone flat standing over the last two months and start measuring for lows. This “Mario pipe” part from my Nissan Cube air install was lying around the garage and worked out the perfect height to become a measurement tool. There are three parts of the truck all fractionally lower to the ground than the lowering stick so those parts will be the limit in terms of how much I can lower. Any removal or cuttable parts that are lower than the lowering stick will be, as you might guess removed or cut. The side panels will be extended to sit just above the lowering stick, and a rubber flap will be fitted at the rear to sit just above the lowering stick. I need to think about the front, I want everything to look as original and truck-like as possible so duckbill spoilers / racing type add ons are a big no no for this build. I was going to extend the front bumper down and back to look a bit like an American juggernaut bumper albeit without the chrome.

I wonder if you can cut the top of the mudflaps to raise them, that way they wouldn't look chopped, which is extra sneaky. Or you could just let them grind themselves short of course. Can you get a second bumper for the rear? Mount one under the other and it *might* look like a factory beef-up kit.

Can you get a second bumper for the rear? Mount one under the other and it *might* look like a factory beef-up kit. I’m actually removing the mud flaps as that’s where the side panels will come to any way so they would be completely hidden. I have looked at VW T3 van rear bumpers to see if one could be shortened and mounted below the rear panel. I need to try one up to see though and I’d still need to extend down further.

Marine plywood cut to size ... I need to draw around the original side panel for the top edge, so i can cutout the excess rectangle in the top right corner and then I’ll move it down to replicate the same rear arch shape but lower down on the new panel and cut an angle up to the front arch edge. That’s the plan any way. Sadly no time to work on it tonight after all.
