We tried every method, a polite conversation as a start point. Unfortunately that didn’t work, neither did impolite conversation, nor did approaching the council so we moved. A few neighbours wrote direct to council as OAP’s, didn’t want hassle. I still speak to one of them and they are fed up with up it. They moved into the place as newly weds brought their kids up in the house and have to much sentimental attachment to the place to move on. Had similar. Our first home was near work and town centre. Big garden and garage, huge driveway. Our neighbours on the courtyard were brilliant and respectful barring those that joined our semi. Utter ****s. Family of 4, mum and dad, two grown kids. All 4 functioning alcoholics. Weekends, bank holiday, any football, any religious event..... PARTY. Start at 9/10am and go until the last person passed out. Usually 4/5/6am. No amount of police involvement, council noise team etc would change their behaviour. Got to the point where Mrs was feeding jnr (3month old) at midnight, and they she banging on the front door for a Barney. Silent when sober, but drink changed them. Leaving that house after 5 year nearly floored me. We're now in a lovely village in the sticks, next to a family one side who repair cars and motorbikes... And a woman in her 50s the other side. Teh family, never cause us issue. The woman in her 50s is a nightmare. She's alcohol driven like the last batch.... Loud music dawn until dusk... Yapy dogs. So we'll move again losing thousands. I've no idea why this country has such an issue with alcohol and noise. Don't get it elsewhere. (Rant/hijack over)

I’d best catch up with words as well as video evidence. 😊 So yeah I made it to the next morning and survived the heat and sweaty barns aside Gravity show was eclectic and varied as it has been the previous two years. I’ve found myself in a circle of friends too nice which is nice rather than wandering around in my own i can share my thoughts with as i browse. My full photo album is here if you can excuse the fun link and the moderns content... www.facebook.com/pg/freshandminty/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2252573201426419&__nodl&ref=page_internal&mt_nav=1My favourite of the show was... This was nice too... If you like your stuff modern and modified how about this R35 GTR with a Liberty Works kit ... It was brought to the show by the founder of Liberty Works, Wataru Kato, who was on hand for autographs / posing for photos. Sadly I didn’t show him my truck but if he did spot it I’m sure beer crate wheel tubs will inspire him onto bigger and better things! 😁 A couple of photos of the Acty by people who know what they’re doing with a camera... And a couple by me... I removed the rear and near side drop sides during the show to expose my bed details, if be interested in people’s views about whether they prefer sides on and up (1), on and down (2), removed completely (3)? 1. 2. 3. The truck went down well from the feedback I had although I didn’t spend much time near it as there was so much to see. The return journey was plain sailing and nice that it was shorter than most shows for me.

Doing all these miles in the truck in silence sends your mind wandering a lot and seeing my flask on my dashboard started to give me ideas. I looked into how much the flask could be taken apart and it turned out it could be completely stripped bare by unscrewing the base and the lids. I then measured up and a 4” co-axial speaker would fit in some way to the flask - either into the base or cup / lid. I knew of a new range of micro amps that were due to launch from vibe so I contacted them for details. So this is where I am now... 4 channel amp with 65 watts on each channel. It’s the same length as a VHS tape, just a bit narrower. A vhs tape will be adopted to hide it too. It has separate front and rear inputs so I can have my iPod as a front input for music and and my phone as a rear input for sat nav. I can mount a rear speaker behind my head so it will be like a back seat passenger telling me where to go. It turns out with a bit of cutting of the flask insides and by cutting off the four mount plates for the speaker it will sit nicely in the flask body and I can fix it with tiger seal. I’ve bought another flask for the second speaker too so they’ll sit on each side of the dashboard.

My vote: rear and one side on and up, the one side facing the crowds or "the audience" on but down. As per that music flask: how about using the screw cap to secure the speaker to the volume by screwing it on and replace its top with a white speaker grille? Maybe have a tetley´s (or rather a FRESH PEPPER&MINTY) tea bag tag hanging out of the cap, too? ;-)

As for the flask cap I want to keep it original for stealth cover but during journeys I can use it to sit my phone in to see the sat nav screen. Lunchtime progress like the good old days... Lines marked and cut so speaker terminals don't get in the way of the flask lip... Speaker now sits in hole perfectly like it was made for it! Mounting lugs bent back but will be cut off... Cup / lid still fits back on when stealth mode required...

That is all sorts of awesome.
Genuinely can't wait to pick up a beater MPV for towing and family duties, so I can Danny around with daft ideas again.
Having sensible/nice cars is boring

A quick test fit of the amp on the removable dashboard panel and it’s like it was designed to fit!

The amp comes with a nice long iso loom to connect directly to the head unit but as I don’t have a head unit I sadly can’t make the most of that. I’ve cut and stripped the cables i need to connect up to power and speakers. I drilled the panel and bolted the amp to it i the spare ten minutes I had before work, need to swap with smaller headed black machine screws really... The other cross on the panel is where I’ll drill for the cables to thread through, I need to do that at home with my full size drill.

I’ve revived the dashboard panel with peanut butter, it worked wonders, will be interested to see how long it lasts. I’ve drilled a 15mm hole for the cables to go through too. And I thought the cables looked a little untidy multicoloured so wrapped electrical tape around them. I think I’ll paint the connector plug with black model paint too.

The speaker cable supplied with the speaker comes with the terminal spades ready connected... I’ve drilled a 4mm hole near the bottom of the flask along the side that will sit on the dashboard when lying down on the passenger dash top section...

'scuse the quick Potatochop...... chop the sideboard somewhere near the end of lower panel? then a slot in board across the bed for storage as is and the back end 'pop' stylee? what you'd need ideally is an old rusty Acty cab/chassis as a donor for the panels to try out

“Popped” out to the truck... Removed the dashboard panel from my main Acty, the panel I’ve mounted the amp on was from the donor Acty... Cables threaded through the hole in the perfect place, fortune favours the brave ... Screwed in place, I’ve since found brown screws whilst looking for something else so I’ll use those instead... It’s lovely working on this truck, the cables just came straight through from above, mo hidden cavities where everything seems to hide in the Elgrand! I then set about making a template to transfer to wood which will act as a spacer along with expanding foam to fill the passenger side dashboard top recess so that the passenger flask can be fixed in place in a slightly better position... I didn’t take photos but I also bonded the speaker in place in the flask. I’ve put it on the dash as is for now until I get the expanding foam and fix it in place permanently. Then spent the next two hours, I don’t know where the time went but it was suddenly dark, cabling everything in place and connecting things up. Rather than an ignition switch for the remote on lead I’ve reused a toggle switch that has been on my dash since purchase, I think it controlled the undertruck LED strips that I removed. The amp seems to turn on and behave as expected when I flick the switch connected to the remote cable so I went inside to get a 3.5mm to aux cable that I know I’ve got loads of somewhere so that I could test with my iPod on but I spent the next hour looking for said cable to no avail. I did find the speaker that I intend to use for the sat nav though so that’s a bonus... I’ve had this speaker since the early 90s for my cb radio and before that it sat in our garage along with the other matching speaker and various 80s head units and an electric aerial. Although I was never aware of my dad being that in to modified cars back then there were always these bits floating about so it’s nice I can use this in a relevant period vehicle.
