See what you mean about the spares truck being too far gone to save now. Lots of goodies on it, all the same. Is that front bumper repairable or is it too far gone? It would give you the big bumper solution for the front if it could be salvaged, though you'd also need to get a square plate to fit. That’s too far gone but I already have a plastic bumper any way that came with the truck, the trouble is it doesn’t sit any deeper than the metal bodywork and doesn’t look as nice imho.

And when I went to the garage to find the g clamps I ended up clearing out 99% of the broken glass from the donor truck’s seats, floor, and dashboard. I also cleared out various other bits of junk like an old vinyl mat and a mouldy old take away in a carrier!! Annoyed I didn’t take a before photo but here’s the cab now and the bench seat in much better condition than mine...

Marked up where I need to rebate on the passenger side but no time to cut tonight. I need to persuade Mrs minty into giving me some time for a couple of evenings this week to get them done for Goodwood! They need to be rebated, glued together, undercoated, painted, and fitted.

Yeah, I got mine today as well. I have no idea what the SATURDAY one does though. That’s so you can display your car within the circuit - presumably in the paddocks or inner tarmac but map being released this week -on the Saturday.

After two silly late nights doing car bits after work version 2 of the side panels are almost complete. Not many photos as i wanted to crack on with the work ... Cutting rebates into passenger panel Monday night... Took it into garage to glue spacer panels on only to find I didn’t have any outdoor no more nails! So I removed the bench seat from the donor truck ... And gave it a good clean ... Still some marks although @maxdamage has recommended magic eraser to remove them. They actually look better since they’ve dried during today. I then cleaned the bed of the truck because I had potential interest in the bed and I wanted to see how good it came up ... With a 15 minute instant grab waterproof adhesive purchased at lunch time i had another few hours tonight to get on it. You can see the tyre marks here, areas to focus on to rebate even though I’m spacing the whole panel out by 9mm Lips in front of and behind tyre done... Told you I’d bought some ... Additional thickness ... After a test fit I felt the top of the arch lip was still too thick so rebated that out too. Gaps in edges filled... Mount holes drilled through spacer panels ... In between glue setting and filler drying on the passenger panel I had chance to do equivalent on driver side... I marked guidelines in advance to make it quicker moving guide board to the right place between each cut... And now they’re both primered on bare wood areas awaiting a quick dust of minty paint before being bolted in place ... So there’s those to finish, the various clothing and food to sort for the weekend, and possibly a wheel bearing issue to sort. What a fun hobby we have

Madness - nice madness though and I'm glad that I'm not the only one up against it to get motors ready for Goodwood

Madness - nice madness though and I'm glad that I'm not the only one up against it to get motors ready for Goodwood That sums it up well. Nice madness. I'd do it every night if I could! I'm hoping to spend 10 minutes a night taking one part of the donor truck at a time until there's nothing left. Good luck with your prep.

Sanded primer back and cleaned (a bit) Sprayed outers... Flipped... Sprayed inners... Adjusted handbrake... Old bench back section removed and lined up next to the donor truck one... Fitted, the bench base needs to wait as I either need to modify new base mount brackets or remove the vinyl from the new base and fit it to existing base... A pillars before... A pillars after taking blanking plates from donor truck... Side panels fitted, with an extra 10mm breathing space. I don’t know how they fitted at all before to be honest. They’re wider than the sections above now but still within the same width of the drop sides so imho still in keeping with the original lines of the truck. I’ve left the rear sides flat and un-rounded now so that I can just glue an extra layer on the reverse again (and fill and sand and primer and paint!) if I need more space.

The extra sandwich of wood will give a certain amount of rigidity that is also a bonus.
Two steps back and three steps forward. 😉

Some neat improvements there, the spares truck was definitely worth getting. Looking forward to seeing this on Sunday.

It's been a real F'n'M week.
First off was an Acty, or more likely its Suzuki equivalent, cab was white but bed was pure F'n'M.
Then a lowered Honda Civic, same colour.
A fixed cog bike, guess what...
A 3 1/2 ton dropside truck.
I don't remember seeing a single thing this colour here until this week, when everything is!
