For the new front bumper, either chop out the middle section where the grilles are completed, or just a square out of the front face of it and lower return so you keep the chrome full width, but don't lose the ventilation. Paint the original bumper mint so it looks like a body panel for the indicators and numberplate and bend the sides as planned and you're done!
I had one of those Head bags at school (way back when), a slightly later black and white version, and it put up with a lot of punishment. Should make a good tent bag. You could use it as a rucksack by sticking your arms through the handles too, though maybe not as a grown up.

Funnily enough I thought about just using the two outer edges as corner bumpers and thought I could have the lower section running the full width with some cutting. Since I sprayed the lower section mint I have however noticed there are two lower lips on either side...  ... that could be used as a base to weld a lower bib panel on to that wraps around the full width and curved back towards the front arch. I think this sprayed mint would look as original as I can get. Obviously rendering the t25 bumper redundant but we’ll see how things turn out. I’d forgotten all about that hold-all carrying technique!  |

I’ve gone all tech savvy and bought one of them in car tape decks that all the kids are banging on about. 6.5 Watts per speaker. Better be careful about my ears!  The volume control labels have worn in such a way that it looks like MAX WIN to me.  Cost was 99p plus £3.99 postage courtesy of the bay of e. |

I had one of those in my VW T25, it did work but it was wired to a pair of carphone speakers for the authentic awful sound. I had a USB flash drive hidden in a cassette so it was a handy holder for that for the modern headunit in the dash.

The single OEM speaker should provide suitable crackle and I’ve got a 3.5mm to tape adaptor thingy knocking about somewhere to connect my iPod up to it. But it's stereo! You need some of those naff surface mounted 'pod' speakers just plonked on the dash. Or at least one, because you have a speaker already. I make no promises but I think I know where there are some proper period, worn Audioline ones. I'll see what I can do if you fancy them for aught. |

You need some of those naff surface mounted 'pod' speakers just plonked on the dash. Or at least one, because you have a speaker already. I make no promises but I think I know where there are some proper period, worn Audioline ones. I'll see what I can do if you fancy them for aught. I appreciate the offer but honestly it’s cool. There’s no room for dashboard speakers and I only need one speaker just to give me enough to sing along too. |

The head unit arrived whilst I was away for the weekend and classic Hermes it was “over the gate”. After slopping through the soggy cardboard and cutting through the parcel tape and bubble wrap that kept it dry on the inside I was presented with my latest purchase.  A few Philips head machine screws and snipped cables later and she was apart ...  In this photo the metal frame which held the switches in place was still fixed to the fascia...  ... but I realised that took up too much internal space so I removed that too and glued the switches and TAPE LED indicator to the fascia itself...  View from above...  Rear view, albeit flash has removed majority of the detail, a few bits of excess plastic need a trimming to make it more hollow ...  The FF / EJECT switch will be held in place by chemical metal in my next tinker session. Obviously this is just going to act as a fascia to house a digital radio stick or my iPod within a hollowed out cassette. |

great idea with the radio facia....keeps it retro looking but adds some hidden modern features....
any plan on the wheels?...I like the steel look....maybe color coded?

great idea with the radio facia....keeps it retro looking but adds some hidden modern features.... any plan on the wheels?...I like the steel look....maybe color coded? JP Thanks. I don’t think minty wheels would suit the standard aged look as much, not in this country anyway - I think only black, white, or silver gives that look imho. I like them as they are apart from the rust on the front pair blends in with the tyre colour a bit too much when you look from a distance so may give the front pair a quick brush over with silver paint. |

So I got chance to pickup my hold-all from the post office this evening. A bit smaller than I expected, it’s a normal banana - actually a pretty small one at that - not a giant inflatable banana a la 1980s football grounds...  At which point I recall the head bags that were around back in the day that were designed to fit three tennis balls in. Oh. I can’t remember seeing the size in the eBay description. Phew it’s down to hold-all folding skills and cable tie strength...  Open it out in case it’s a medium sized bag and all is well...  And packed it out with a roll of bubble wrap I’ve bought to send some parcels off...  Just need show season to start now. |

When I were a lad at school people who had head bags use to modify the head logo with tip ex to look like a bell end. can I say that???
