Hi all, I'm thinking of moving the e36 on again, I'm not getting much use out of it. I get a lift to and from work everyday and other than that I use the mrs' car for economy (derv) so this is seeing 50 miles a month absolute max. I'm thinking of a change, maybe something silly. As I hardly use it I might be able to justify scratching that V8 itch now whilst I've got the chance and I've been looking at old J stuff too so that might be a possibility.
It's been a blast to own and if I get chance I will definitely get another in future. After owning a lot of more mature BMWs I wasn't sure about the e36 model but I'm glad I gave it a chance, such a fun and capable car to drive.
Good:
He's called Arthur (see reg).
None sunroof, manual.
Just shelled out a small fortune in a full service kit, only had chance to fit plugs and air filter as yet. I have oil, oil filter and fuel filter here ready.
It has a 328i twin pipe system from manifolds back with a gutted backbox. Quiet on tick over but sounds awesome given the boot.
Body is in really good nick in my opinion in comparison to the majority of e36 3 series' you see but is not perfect, starting to show minor bubbling on the lips of arches but only on the under edges. Not like you usually see. Obviously dings and scratches here and there but very presentable for its age.
Just fitted oe clear rear lamps and aftermarket front indicators.
Runs faultlessly and is as tight as a drum, goes well.
Sport front bumper. (Needs a grille)
It has never let me down once, super reliable and superb engine.
Bad:
Crack in front screen at the top, not in wiper sweep and not visible from inside.
Central locking inop, something for you to play with.
Will require service light setting but I was leaving this until oil is changed. Easy enough to do with 'how tos' on YouTube.
Both wing mirror body's are corroded and black paint peeled could do with replacing with the plastic type (around £20) I'll try and sort this if I get chance.
Airbag light is on, wires have come loose under passenger seat from what I can see.
All in all it's a tidy enough, manual, fun to drive, super reliable, 6 pot coupe with a few minor problems. If you want to come and have a look please let me know.
Always willing to listen to PX's and offers.
Cheers, Neil.
I'm sure I'll remember other things and I'll adjust the ad as and when I do. Cheers, Neil.
