Great to see the progress, makes me glad fathers Fulvia & my Beta coupes have so little rust! & so glad you spotted the sill repair miss-alignment... Even when you think everything look perfect beforehand things will go awry once welded! Also interesting to see the hidden structure of the car given how delicate the roof/pillar structure appears. The rainy salted roads in the UK do make it a bit of an on going problem. I wish we had your Aussi weather sometimes. The fulvia will get LOADS of waxoyl when ive got each bit of the welding done. Sometimes theres not alot to go on when welding and I'm trying to go systematicly and not get to torch happy or cut a load off without really studying the structure. Ive made a whole lot of paper templates with reference lines and marks. The amount of filler on this area is shocking as I didnt know that so much was put on . It must have been the 20 plus years ago spray over I had done by a mate. This is the worst part of the whole car and Ive done it that way round so ive at least got some sort of reference on the other side. So the wonky panel was only noticed after alot of standing back and eyeing it over. to sort it meant jacking the car right up and getting underneath to stitch the bottom edge and pushing the panel further onto the sill and in towards the floorpan.

So what is your plan for this little beauty once finished? Daily? Weekend car? Show car etc? Ideally I just want to drive it. I'm not going to go for the show car thing as that level of finishing is unrealistic for my skills. When I was in my twenties it was my daily car and it really was very usable as a daily. It was easy to drive reliable economic and was also different which was its appeal to me . Jumping in and just wizzing out to the shops and stuff like that is really possible with a fulvia. They do motorways well and are just fun to drive. There is a little dream I've promised myself and that is to have a day at the track day that the lancia motor club organise every year. I love the idea of driving to Goodwood and track racing with the other big boy lancias then driving home .I've been promising myself and my son that we will do it 'next year' for the last 5 years at least. But now it seems like its actually going to be obtainable now.... Well will see there's an awful lot to do just to make it to the MOT. But you never know........maybe next year.??

re-alined the passenger door and put the door handle on. At least this time the screws and bolts were not totally ruined. Its funny how just taking stock and revisiting a problem can be enough to sort it easily. I put some seam sealer around the areas of welding on the floorpan and just a couple of quick easy things made the whole project move on. I'm totally skint at the moment so getting onto the next bits of panel work done will have to wait. Cheap stuff for the moment.....

removed steering wheel boss to try to get the flasher working Seems like all is roughly as it should be but still no main beams. so I took the indicator and flasher lever to bits and that seems ok the lights switch although really complicated and typically lancia engineered to perfection.... also seems to be working properly... so not sure what to try next . Hopefully its an earthing thing and just a matter of cleaning the contacts etc.

should have realised something was not right with that melted wire connected to the new looking red fuse. I found that the old alarm system that was not very well installed and then half removed before my ownership was the cuprite for the electrical trouble. so I removed all that wiring, the loose brown one and a load of blue wire and then put in a new good earth wire to the body. Tadah and the lights work the dipped beam and full spots are working well. The moral of the story is don't assume old curse word added in bits of wiring are any good. All the original Lancia stuff works well. So now get the wipers working and as far as electrics go done enough to be MOTable. this little lot works somehow according to the multimeter, Just need to get the fuel sender and the oil pressure sender working.

heres a few pictures of some of the progress, grill refitted and lights working rebuilt 35 solex carbs. had to re-clean out everything again to get it running... though it did actually start first time. these carbs have a return pipe which ive blocked for the moment. but these bigger rebuilt carbs have totally changed the feel of the car. Not only does it start more easily but runs smoothly and almost purrs....even with a hole in the exhaust and no air filter fitted . What a cracker I'm pretty pleased with it.
