I followed the crowd fund days of a game called 'Project Cars' very closely. Bought it the first day out was avaliable, but i was so disappointed. It looked amazing, but I couldn't make one lap in any car without spinning. It felt very unrealistic.
Then, after reading up on the subject, i realised it was down to being TOO realistic! Attempting to control a car with a couple of buttons and a little wobbly stick was the problem!
I bought the cheapest force feedback wheel (Thrustmaster T100) as i couldn't justify spending TOO much money on my little project....don't buy one, it broke 3rd go!
So clearly, I now had the justification to throw caution to the wind! Enter the Logitec G29, with gearstick and 3 pedals!
If is seriously the coolest damn thing. Anyone else play Project Cars with a wheel? I've barely used the PS4 for anything else since!

I've not played that one although the tough sounding handling reminds me of stuff like Rally Trophy, GT Legends and the legendary Grand Prix Legends which had the rortyest sounding cars ever! You had to drive like Takumi F. with a cup full of water just to stay on the road, never mind go fast!

Not so keen on the layout of the G29. I still have a G25 and a G27... by far the best controllers I have ever used ... ONCE set up correctly... Dialling each game in causes more hassle for the 'impatient' but once done... so worth it.

Are these truck driving sims really realistic ? For example are there features enabling you to sexually assault members of the public , murder them , wrap them in a old 70s carpet and throw them in the ditch ?
What about a skilfull game of trying to aim into a empty soft drinks bottle and getting points for lack of spillage and accuracy at throwing into the woods ?
Secreting duty free fags and evading customs ? Giving someone a good leathering when you catch them in the back of your truck ?
I think they missed a few tricks here i really do .

I'm currently playing through Mad Max on the eggbox. Lots of rorty sounding engines and bouncing over sand dunes. You can do all kinds of tweaks and mods to your car also.

Well Mad Max was very good, I'll have to take a few screenshots. Currently on Initial D on the ps3 now, it's got very floaty daft handling but all the stuff is there from the show/books.

Good work on the Kaido completion. It's far better game than Initial D, the only saving grace for that is the licence. I've done a ton of upgrades on my AE85 and it seems to make no difference at all! Nothing changes, the handling, the engine noise, the rpm limit etc etc. Strange game!
The Driver game on the 360 where you teleported between cars was amazing. Real good handling and played lovely. It also had a mode where you recreated famous film chases.

I totally agree with the disappointment, I also bought it on release, visually good, lots of depth, but just far too twitchy for me, but I am a casual gamer, on a pc connected to my living room TV, using xbox controller, so I'm not putting a wheel and gaming chair and stuff in there just to play one game. I put project cars on now and then, but after repeatedly spinning out/ crashing/ flying throught the air for no reason whatsoever, I bang on something like Need for Speed or Dirt or something so I can actually at least do a lap for fun. On a side note, I also found using a xbox controller made it much easier to get unstuck on spintires, on and off the throttle, thats the key.

It's not playable with a controller - it's so difficult to feel what's going on under the tyres. A decent force feedback wheel transforms it!

Ah well, it's staying un-transformed for me then, I'm a controller in the living room guy......at least until a kid moves out....

Lately I've been playing a really fascinating game called Jalopy. You go on an adventure with your Uncle in 1990s East Germany. You start off having to build and mod your car which is based on a Trabant. On the way you can buy spares, upgrades, fuel etc. Each time you head out the routes are different and you see different things. On my first run out I found an abandoned half stripped shell by the side of the road, so I had the spare tyre off it and also found some cartons of cigarettes that I sold at the local garage Play wise it's really detailed and you can control all kinds on the inside of your car, wipers, dash buttons, screen wash, visors etc etc. You even have to add 2 stroke oil to keep your mix right I even had an old tyre blow out.

Still playing Jalopy, great game. I got lucky on one trip and found a souped up engine, which replaced the fast accelerating one cylinder that I bought.
