Hello
New to the forum. My name is jack and I'm from Hemel Hempstead, hertfordshire
I have been been looking for a workshop/industrial size unit for the last couple of months to store my drift car and trailer in and also space to work on the car.
Throughout all the time looking I have been unsuccessful due to companies not allowing storage of cars.
there is only one place I know of thatll rent to me in Hertfordshire but it's £480 a month which I cannot afford. The unit is on farm land in bovingdon and is 60ft long by 30 ft wide and 30 ft high, it has a massive roller shutter. If someone is willing to split the unit that would be perfect if not what else is out there?

That's Hertfordshire for you, land of the rich apparently. I'm in St Albans and might be keen to chip in if you find anything. Also have a buddy in HH building a track car who might want in. Keep looking..

I got all excited then as I'm also in Herts and looking for some reasonably priced storage/workshop space. £480 p/m is not reasonably priced in my opinion, even half of that for half the unit looks expensive.
I may have to try again to convince the local planners to let me build my garage!

Sadly you can forget reasonable rent in hertfordshire as nothing is even remotely close £200pcm that isn't a single garage

Yup, in the same boat.
A few months ago I decided to go balls deep and just commit to one for a year and see how it goes... then I saw the rates value added on top. Scratch that idea.

I'm considering buying land. Building on it then renting it to pay loan back. I cannot find anything under 1000sqft ? I don't wanna pay business tax for a hobby

It is quite small and I really could do with more space, there is a HUGE NEW unit being built... almost warehouse sized which will be £1500 pcm but way out of my price range. If a few people were serious about sharing it then I suspect between 4 people would be ideal as you could fit probably up to 20 cars inside.
