Mk2 Granada ones just need a spacer, so I have been told by several people on BSC and such.
Mondeo sounds like the puppy because as you say, cheaper and more common as they are more common and modern.

yeah mk2 granny 2.8 calipers look the same as M16's, racers used to use them in race series wthat didnt allow brake mods as they have a bigger pad area than the M16 but will fool a scrutineer.
They should bolt on to pretty much any old ford from an escort to a cortina to a capri.

which was one of the reasons I wanted them. the other being that they are cheaper than 4 pots and smaller/lighter than Princess calipers

i stand corrected - the mondeo clipers need a ' capri sport' adapter plate - they are not a straight swap
