Finish line must be in sight, can't wait to see the finished article! Nor can I! Looking very good now nalesutol And the side pipe is ending up looking better than I had imagined it would (or they usually look a bit pony on pretty much anything) I'm guessing that is down to your fastidious eye for detail and how it should be

It was a matter of making the best of a bad job. There was nowhere else to put the exhaust as the 3" pipe and box would have been too close to the ground under the car. Also, getting the pipe down and under the car would have been a mission in itself due to lack of space. When we first looked at fitting an exhaust it was almost fatal to the project. Fortunately moving the bulkhead back allowed the exhaust to fit behind the engine and out under the door. I now realise why no one else (as far as I can ascertain) has attempted this transplant before :-)

I HATE body prep! Spent a hour or so sanding the grill and splitter area. All looked pretty good until I sprayed it and all the imperfections leapt out at me.

Yeah, I am pleased with it. eBay purchase quite a few years ago. This is its maximum height but that suits me fine as there is nothing under the car :-) Here is a better photo of it:

Great work as usual-and all that body rubbing down is shaving more weight! I think this has been discussed before, but you will be running narrower(lighter) front wheels/tyres when on the strip?

Rubbing down but then filling holes so not a lot in it :-) Not sure re the wheels. I will start with the road wheels which will be, probably, 8x15s with the rears 10.5x15. Skinny front wheels look silly and indicate that you are trying too hard to go fast so I would rather run with decent looking wheels :-) However, as development progresses smaller wheels will no doubt be looked into.

I must say that your answer surprises me given the lengths you have gone to in saving weight throughout the car. The reduction in weight for narrower front wheels and tyres will be significant..... and also the reduction in power needed to accelerate/rotate that mass gives more power for vehicle acceleration. Can you not get, say 6x15 of a similar style to maintain the looks?

Can you not get, say 6x15 of a similar style to maintain the looks? I know, weird isn't it? :-) However, I hate how narrow front wheels make cars look silly...IMO. My engine guru reckons that I have too much power for my chassis/suspension anyway so I am really wasting my time reducing weight. Having said that, I am not writing off fitting narrow front wheels, just not initially. If I get to, say, 9.01 then narrow wheels would be fitted very quickly :-)

What’s the purpose of the vents ? Taking a guess at pressure reducing in the wing at high speed ?

What’s the purpose of the vents ? Taking a guess at pressure reducing in the wing at high speed ? Correct :-) Would it work at all if it was lower down and say on the side of the wing behind the wheel? I have a reason for asking no width/room in the top of a wing on one of my project cars but plenty of area behind the wheel on the side of the wing and I already have some pre-formed steel vents (from a bonnet I scrapped for the same car)

I have a reason for asking no width/room in the top of a wing on one of my project cars but plenty of area behind the wheel on the side of the wing and I already have some pre-formed steel vents (from a bonnet I scrapped for the same car) That is where quite a few manufacturers fit their vents (behind the wheel). However, as I understand it, the pressure builds up over the wheel so this is the best place to put vents if possible. The air lower down has other ways to escape.

Have you thought about fitting lights off an elan 26R instead of popups?

Have you thought about fitting lights off an elan 26R instead of popups? I am not fitting lights at the moment (I sold the popups some time ago) but have the 26R style lamp covers and compact Hella headlamp units for if and when I decide that I want to drive at night.
