"what a difference a bay makes, 24 little parts" Quite a transformation. I thought that s a clever wing cover our man using, then I clocked it was the replacement panel. Good to see it all coming along well Thanks for the comment. The black wing is a bit of a disgrace at the moment, but it shouldn't be too long before it gets sorted! Looking good, and nice detail in the write up me like That's bloody brilliant mate!! Thanks guys! stay tuned for more updates!!

Loving this. My dads friend was a car dealer so been in many a Mondeo, wouldn't mind a 1.8td but I would want it in this colour. I love loud coloured cars. Also realised how good looking the Mk1 is.

What a transformation, just make sure your paint shop doesn't get it all covered in over spray!

Love this car, what a great project. I too grew up in Hendy country (New Milton) and I'm sure I used to pass one of these on my way to school as I remember the graphics on the side. Never realised the significance until now!

What a great thread; love the fact you're getting it as "showroom" as possible.
I've never owned a Ford, but I've never understood those that slag off a manufacturer that is not the one they like. That is a neat looking car and you're doing the marque proud.

I agree, when i take a step back i'm still struck by how great the MK1 still looks to this day! Citrine Yellow is certainly a 'Marmite' colour but i am definitely a fan!! Great stuff I'm liking the attention to detail! Thank you, Tofufi! What a transformation, just make sure your paint shop doesn't get it all covered in over spray! Don't worry...they will be briefed on keeping the 'bay clear!!! Love this car, what a great project. I too grew up in Hendy country (New Milton) and I'm sure I used to pass one of these on my way to school as I remember the graphics on the side. Never realised the significance until now! Awesome to hear from a local lad! I too never knew of the Hendy Rsi's importance until later in life when i started digging...i guess a lot of people don't know about them / have no idea why they're important! Thanks for checking out my thread. What a great thread; love the fact you're getting it as "showroom" as possible. Thanks for your comments, Morris63! Glad my stickling for details / in depth write up hasn't driven you to distraction! Thanks for your kind words & i'm glad that you have enjoyed checking out my resto - Stay tuned for more updates!

Well, this thread brings back a few memories for me! When my dad sold his much loved Sierra Sapphire GLS 2.0 Saloon it may way for a 1993 Ford Mondeo Si saloon in State Blue, which he acquired from my uncle who at the time use to work for Guest Motors in West Bromwich. I seem to recall my uncle saying it was an ex-head of something or other car from within Ford before it was sold on. But the car looked like a spitting image of the Hendy Si saloon (with the 16" RS 7 Spokes, the RS spoiler and RS door trims in addition to the more well known bumpers) but without the graphics, including the Si interior. It did lack a few goodies of the Hendy cars, but it did have other things (or options maybe) that I did not see in other Mondeos at the time, like a removable panel on the 2006 tape deck. He drove it for years until one day it got written off. For some time however it did return to the road. Whether the car is scrap now is another matter. Who knows what has happened to K27 VNX? Reading about the Hendy Si cars however is interesting with their touches, and I guess probably the closest earlier car to come to being an RS. I saw a couple of these cars at shows but did not recognise their significance until reading this thread. It really is an eye opener! I'll be watching this thread with interest, as probably a closet Mondeo admirer ; I was never the keenest on the Mk1s and 2s but have had a Mk3 3.0 V6 Ghia X Estate which is probably one of the few cars I have owned for any length of time and simply piled on the miles (from 100k to 262k), until a driver wrote it of (drove into the back of me) ; that car went on many trips abroad and in the UK (I remember somehow getting from Warwick to St David's in 2.5 hours somehow once! Keep on updating the thread .

Great thread this one, love the attention to detail and the fact that you're keeping 'factory'. I remember the Citrine colour Mondeos as I worked at Ford Sandicliffe in Perry Barr Birmingham in the late eighties with my sister in Law who was there until the mid nineties. She always had different company cars and one such car was a Citrine Mondeo, was that colour only model specific as my fading memory can't recall ? Looking forward to the next update !

Stay tuned for more updates! Great thread this one, love the attention to detail and the fact that you're keeping 'factory'. Funnily enough my '95 Escort was originally supplied by Sandicliffe Ford! Glad you're enjoying the thread and the 'showroom' style resto! To my knowledge Citrine yellow was only offered on the MK1 Mondeo launch cars, although i have been told that one or two non-Si cars were painted citrine from the factory (presumably subject to special order terms at the time / maybe using up some of the Citrine paint at the factory!)

Just caught up on this, engine bay looks so good. I always clean my engine bays as best I can and completely understand you being anal about it. Once you start you just cant leave it alone! I can see the cleaning gear coming out next time I get a chance having read this. Well done.

Thanks for the replies guys! Looking good! I stumbled upon this last week in Kent whilst on a Classic Ford shoot (of the Capri). I recognise that plate (CDF)...i've got a feeling the kit on that car is maybe US spec? i could be wrong! Either way, it looks like a very tidy example - nice find! Also, I've gotta check out your shots of the Capri! Just caught up on this, engine bay looks so good. I always clean my engine bays as best I can and completely understand you being anal about it. Once you start you just cant leave it alone! I can see the cleaning gear coming out next time I get a chance having read this. Well done. Thank you! This was my first real foray into an engine bay clean up (starting from a dirty base) and i agree....i think it will become something of an addiction to keep it clean / to keep on top of it! This is just all kinds of fantastic...!!! I will be watching this with great interest. Thanks, hopefully i will have an update for you soon! Thanks again to all who have checked out this thread...I'm hoping to have a slightly bigger update on this project soon. The goal is still to have it on the road this summer and do some shows!

Spot on there, doing everything I would do - enhanced standard ;-) Looks really good in the pics, so much so I looked on ebay to see if there were any saloons for sale. Luckily for my wife there aren't! When I was younger and living in Paignton, Devon, there was a citrine and it always caught my attention I'm from paignton and I know the mondy you're on about. It's still about iirc

Great read so far. Makes me want to start similar this summer with my limited Toyota. When you say about Hendy Special Devisions, what others did they make?
