The suspension saga:One aspect of the resto that is proving to be a slight headache is the suspension. The Hendy cars were fitted with Eibach -30mm springs all-round. (Part numbers: 5030397(front) & 5030395 (rear) if anyone is interested) This car has had the front springs changed for -40mm items (apparently due to a cracked spring). In my pursuit of originality I am on the hunt for a set of front -30mm Eibach items, however finding these is quite literally like looking for a needle in a haystack! I have contacted Eibach directly and [unsurprisingly] they do not have any remaining in stock! They can manufacture a set of -30mm springs for me at HUGE expense, however these would not carry the original part no (as they would be a new part). This leaves me with one other option, to source an after market set of -30mm springs, but of course I would still not be being true to the ‘showroom spec’ resto that I’m after. So – one last roll of the dice! I’m putting out there to the good people of RetroRides… If you can [miraculously, maybe] find a set of front Eibach -30mm springs ( part number 5030397) that I can buy - I will pay you a finders fee! I know this is a huge long-shot but definitely worth a punt I think. This is what the springs in question look like: Thanks again for reading!

Sorry guys, i missed your replies! Great car ! I remember the spoilt rich boy at college @1998 had a blue one of these with the escort cosworth style wheels . What a car to have back then at (presumably) a young age! I remember these, love the colour. My Aunty had a white 94 Si saloon and my Dad had a 95 ghia at the same time, dad liked his I much the only car that replaced it was a white 5 door RSI kitted st24. My dad always had fords from 1986 until 2002! Sounds like quite the family collection! I too grew up around Fords which is what gave me the bug. My dad was the RS salesman at our local Ford dealership (F English ltd back then) in Bournemouth.

i almost bought one of these from poole car auctions years ago for £100 but had no way of getting it back Ahh SWVA! I used to love going there with my dad as a kid! Bookmarked always liked these citrine yellow mondies I pulled into a petrol garage in sittingbourne before xmas, and one pulled into the pump next to me, when i came out from paying there were two there !!!! two citrine yellow mk1 mondoe's in one place, it looked surreal they were obviously together, but i never had time to ask questions etc. Bet that was a sight for sore eyes (quite literally)!!! But really, the few Citrines that remain do have a following, so i guess if you see one, you're quite likely so see another nearby!

Do love a launch colour car! And always had a soft spot for these.... Even though my worst motoring chapter was a brief stint with a MK1 Mondeo many years ago! This super 90s style, decked on Escos rims would be immense.

This super 90s style, decked on Escos rims would be immense. i LOVE a low MK1 saloon (again, thanks to the BTCC), however this one will be staying at the modest -30mm Hendy intended! Since buying this RSi though i have to admit, I have been very tempted to buy a standard mk1 saloon, just so i can have an outlet and do the mods that I'm having to restrain myself from doing to the Hendy!

This is fantastic, there used to be loads of them around here and at one point about 6 years ago we even had two of them in the works car park. I'm now kicking myself for not buying one back when they were more common.
I'm looking forwards to following this thread, keep up the good work!

What a great project!
I can remember when the mk1 Mondeo was launched and at the time my aunt worked in a Ford dealership. She would get me the latest Ford brochures as they came out and when I first saw the Citrine yellow Si I wanted one so bad, even though i wasn't old enough to drive!!
Looking forward to the updates as I'm a Mondeo fan and I have a mk2 myself.

Break the rules, go nuts. Just make the ultimate Mondeo! Don't tempt me! I owe it to this car to carry out a showroom resto i think. That doesn't mean that a non-Hendy Si isn't on the cards at some point in the future, prime for some BTCC themed extras! This is fantastic, there used to be loads of them around here and at one point about 6 years ago we even had two of them in the works car park. I'm now kicking myself for not buying one back when they were more common. I'm looking forwards to following this thread, keep up the good work! I remember a fair few Citrines being about when i lived in Bournemouth..you can't really not see them coming! Lots of people have said to me that they wish they'd bought one when they were just 'sh*tty old yellow mondeos'!!! What a great project! I can remember when the mk1 Mondeo was launched and at the time my aunt worked in a Ford dealership. Looking forward to the updates as I'm a Mondeo fan and I have a mk2 myself. I hope you've kept those brooches somewhere! With this Hendy I've got stacks of original paperwork (including the original sales brochure - annotated by the salesman) and i definitely feel it really helps to tie the cars history together. The MK2 is becoming really quite scarce now too..certainly worth holding on to!

There's a few photos of the hatch equivalent knocking around online. I know it was still about in good condition not too long ago, but not really heard much about them for a couple of years.

I actually have the guy's phone number who owns the hatch and i text him periodically just to check if he's ready to sell yet (his answer is usually no!). The hatch has had a bit of a checkered life with various mods carried out, although i understand it to be in a fair condition these days. Needless to say, a very cool car indeed!

Bookmarked, I'm quite drawn to this car for some reason! May be a combination of a genuine unique car and a bit of nostalgia as my Dad is a Ford service manager and used to drive all sorts of fast Ford saloons in the 90's.
