Short answer is that nobody is going to pay you a grand for a cosmetically challenged Mk3 Granada with a long list of faults and a knackered gearbox. I wouldn't say the gearbox is 'knackered'. So, in your opinion, what should it be priced at? A few people have already said they think that the price is about right. I'll let this ad run, and if I get nothing out of it, redo the description and relist it, I think.

It's already been said that Mk3 Granadas are difficult to value.
I've been on the lookout for a Pinto powered, 5 speed manual, pre-facelift Mk3 Granada (preferably a GL rather than a Ghia) and I would happily pay a grand for the right car.
Last summer I saw a suitable candidate at a classic car show, a nice low miler (65k) but the seller wanted £4.5k! I've also seen MoTd but tired examples, albeit without major mechanical maladies, sell for a few hundred quid. I'd say your car is comparable to the latter.

I think what other people have said is true with this, sometimes it just doesnt pay you to be so honest unfortunately, I've made the same mistake in the past and struggled to sell by listing all the faults rather than letting someone turn up and find them for themselves. Not because I think you should lie - it will just make people skip your ad alot quicker for something with less faults (for something that might have more faults but they just havent had their rose tinted glasses dulled by them all too early) I think the main bugbear will be the gearbox. Is the spare for £50 local to you ? It might help if you bought it and included it in the sale with a "gearbox supplied but i don't have time to fit" line in your ad.

rmad could help you sell it quickly by sticking his recent Granada artwork in here ... although I think it is in the current Classic Ford Magazine so maybe he has to hold off on doing that.

I honestly believe the gearbox will be a fairly simple wiring issue, mainly because I've just bought one and mine was the same
I would offer to take a look if I was closer, because that almost certainly is the major turn off

This is more like £350's worth with gearbox problems at best I'm afraid (You did ask, before I get flamed) and even then expect a long slog before it drives away. If you think the gearbox can be fettled with a fluid change or a speed sensor or whatever and you have some time on your hands it would be worth doing. Otherwise its a 'project' for anyone taking it on and ios therefore worth 'project' money.

It just doesn't go into top. I've done about ten thousand miles with the 'box as it is. But going by ianmk2's thread where his Granada exhibited the same problems, it does sound very much like wiring. I just don't have the facilities (like a driveway or ramps) to do it myself.

Well, well! A new garage has opened up in the next street to me. And apparently, they are automatic gearbox specialists. That's handy!

If this was moved to Cheshire (near Crewe), would anyone be interested? Because there's a chance it could be moved up there to my Mum's and SORNed in a couple of weeks.
