No way. Saw this van most weeks when I worked at Newman Cams. It's immculate. Didn't think I'd see a stolen car I recognised on here (though they're getting closer each day). Hope the bastards get caught red handed. It's not on, it's quite clearly someones pride and joy.

Such a nice rare van, not been many of those about for years now.
I wonder if anyone whos job it is to deal with thefts has actualy sat their backside down and looked at this slolen forum. They cant deny theres something going on that needs sorting out. Too many fords in one area, not counting all the others here and there, and there......

FIT TRACKERS TO THE LOT OF THEM! Sorry to shout, but this really needs to happen. The way I see it is you wouldn't fit £10k's worth of modern motor with a 1970s security system. The same should go for classics tbh, and I can't see the shocking spate of thefts will stop until something like this happens. Why on earth don't insurers insist on it?

This really is worthy of local kent press and police involvement now , its not something that can be ignored by them . There is some serious organised gang working there and the amount of thefts may be there downfall hopefully .

The H-Van which was nicked had a tracker, they disabled it. So more importantly, have it well fitted!

So not only organised crime but professional - i would have thought someone in the police would twig this - if they are knicking old fords and disposing of them whos to say they are not the same people stealing high end mercs, bmws audis etc . If they got someone for these old fords it might be the tip of the iceberg . Wait , i forgot , one car is the same as any other and its all about statistics .

The same should go for classics tbh, and I can't see the shocking spate of thefts will stop until something like this happens. Why on earth don't insurers insist on it? because trackers really don't work. not even as a deterrent. not in older vehicles anyways. possibly in a new vehicle where its integrated into the vehicle ECUs so it can disable the car within minutes of it being taken, but even then they're not infallable. pretty much anything can be hacked by the right person with the right knowledge. if you know a car has a tracker it can be found and removed far, far quicker than the police will ever respond to you reporting it stolen. if you don't know for sure whether it has one or not, you simply lay it up somewhere and see if anyone turns up for it. ultimately, they are all limited by the need for an SMS or GPS signal, or battery life, or both. it doesnt take much concrete or steel to block those signals. an underground car park is enough, or a shipping container. i have also been informed by people far more nefarious than myself you can get a 'jammer' to stick on any car that potentially has a tracker to block the signal. the thieves doing this kind of thing are not stupid. they know what systems they're up against and they know how to get around them.

There was a prgramme on tv in the last couple of years about people stealing new cars and taking them to Bulgaria . The bloke had a simple handheld readily avalible scanner and thats all he needed . And he had gadgets to block them if he couldnt get them out , the same thing as a mobile phone blocker .
He could also do spot on fake v5s on his laptop no problem , utter gutter filth.

We have trackers fitted to our work vans you'll often get a call from the office asking if we've took a day off cos the tracker shows the van parked outside the house. Also the trackers show speed severe braking etc how long do you think it would take for the insurance company to use them as a way of increasing premiums

Yepp, I took my alarm and immobiliser out last year and I'm working on putting it in more subtly. You couldn't see it as it was behind the dash rather than under it, but if you opened the bonnet, you could see which wires I'd split and could reconnect them!

Fitting trackers is a good idea, but it is difficult to hide one completly in a retro and its not really getting to the root of the problem. Its like an alarm, its prevention but its no cure.
