Roll hoop renovation... It was powder coated, which is fine, but once rain gets in behind it it's DOOM! So I bought a selection of wire wheels of death from Toolstation. Small scabs look like this, Hide stuff like this... I was going to just grind the rust scabs back and bosh some black paint on, but got carried away and peeled it! Before, during and after. I discoverd it peeled MUCH more easily if heated with a blowtorch. Luckily it wasn't really rotten, just scabby on the surface. Peeled... Then I painted it with Pound shop primer, but it looked like someone had just wire brushed the scabs and painted it. Which is exactly what happened. So I trundled off to Wilkos and bought some filler. I hadn't ever used filler before, but I remember reading (probably on here) the less you put on, the less you have to sand off. So I used it carefully. Lord knows how the Yanks on TV use spades of the stuff and sand it for days... Anyway, no pictures as it forecast rain, but I'm pretty chuffed with the results. Here it is in grey primer. Looks loads better. I'm waiting for the poundshop to get more satin black rattle cans in before I finish it off.

Thinking of selling this? Looks decent and not the usual rustbox, would you be tempted by an offer???

Thinking of selling this? Looks decent and not the usual rustbox, would you be tempted by an offer??? Thanks! Not really for sale, it took me months to find this one. It's a bit scabby but not as bad as the usual "ideal for export" chod. I haven't done much (anything) on it, just been bouncing about enjoying the summer. I really need to get off my and sort some jobs. The front wheels are scabby, I want them re-chroming if it's not dead expensive, otherwise I'm not sure what to do. But I need to do it soon as I have new tyres in the pipeline. Also I have new wings in the shed which I have to move every time I get the mower out, which I have had for ages. Need to get them sprayed up and boshed on, as there is filler gushing out of the original ones. I discovered that Poundland paint reacts with Poundsaver primer, so I needed to do the legs of the roll bar again. Bums. It's done now and has been on the patio for yonks.... Thanks for all the nice comments, I really need to pull my finger out...

Heyup. Whatsthis? An update? Well. In July last year I was faffing about with a roll hoop. It's currently still on the back patio, propped up againsed the BBQ. I did get new tyres though... After some research I soon got bored, but Mrs Generallee found Kumho Road Ventures come with good reviews from the Aussies, and very reasonably priced. They looked a bit plain after the Grabbers, so a white paint pen was procured. I stuck my tongue out the corner of my mouth and tried not to go off the lines. They are really good. Not noisy at all on the road (I can't hear them over the engine at least), grip well in the wet (no more roundabout antics in the rain), brilliant in snow (although they haven't a winter "snowflake" mark). Picked up some wood destined for the skip. Suitably shod, we went to a pay and play day out in a quarry. I ought to have taken pictures, but sort of forgot. It was jolly good fun though. On the way home the brakes pulled violently to the left. Oh Bumhats.

One of the pistons in the O/S was seized up and full of sand. Not suprising given the state of the seals. Pulled them off and ordered new flexi hoses while I was at it. Obviously I mullered some of the hard lines while taking the flexis off, but only short ones so no real drama. Think the brake fluid was due a change. I chickened out of rebuilding the calipers myself (I am confident enough, but work on the drive/in the garden. I don't have a decent workbench or vice. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it), so sent them off to Bigg Red. Pricier than just a seal kit, but no stress and I know they are right. While they were away I did a tidy-up job on the tow bar bumper thing.

I went bananas and ordered genuine pads. TaDaaaa. Shiny. THe discs are in good order, so I had a satisfying afternoon putting everything back together. Pulls up beautifully now, I even faffed about and adjusted the rears/handbrake.

Looks great. I’ve got a b2500 pick up. Wish it was the 4x4 one though.
Where did you get the bed cover from?

Where did you get the bed cover from? Either Rough Trax or Milner Off Road, I can't remember which. I guess eBay does them too though.
