Future classic? I hope so Its difficult to tell what would be considered a classic car in twenty or so years time, just look at some of the cars we are cherishing now - I mean..... 'A VW Derby' (though the cars we 'Retro Riders' tend to like are not always the cars a casual car enthusiast would consider classic) I'm wondering if modern cars are just too complicated to be viable to keep running at a a stage when they would be regarded as classic old cars. What with complicated suspension and drivetrain systems as well all the electrics and safety devices - ABS, airbags etc However some cars I feel are bound to become classics e.g; - Lotus Elise - All Porsches (911 + Boxter) - Smarts - Mazda MX5 - Toyota MR2 & generally anything thats simple and sports related.

WHAT THE F%*&? Those two piles of recycled monkey jizz? Are you out of your mind? Will we really look back on "the good ol' daze" of pushy curse word salesmen (&women) in their cheap shiny suits driving us about to view houses we can't afford? Will we recall with fondness the middle class double-income-no-kids self-obsessesed nausiating thick glasses wearing fools who think they're witty, post-modern and irreverent for driving a car with a gay little flower vase thing on the dashbord? NO WE WILL NOT. These two insipid piles of sheeps turd are the automotive equvavlent of a Dido album. Worthless toss. In 20 years time we'll look back and shudder to think about how obnoxiuos our contemporaries were. (ps. I've got a seventies Raliegh Commando Chopper for sale if anyone's interested)

Grovelling apologies!
You know what I mean though: Just watch any one of those nauseating "Property Ladder" type TV shows and it's full of these cretins who put making a heap of cash and buying a house in Dorset / France / Islington more important than anything else.
You don't need £90k a year coming into your house to be happy, that's all!

Well said NickB - Those f**king charisma-neutral donks who buy 'New' Beetles, and who in fact frequently feature in those disgustingly greedy property-ladder type programmes, really BOIL MY P1SS.

Apart from what everyone else already said;
MG X-power SV-R ;D Audi A2- so overpriced and unpopular, impractical, but looks damn cool Fiat Panda- even the new one Fiat Doblo - you gotta love the cheapness and practicality Volvo 850 T5 thingy Seat Arosa- Best New small car there is to buy at the mo IMHO Honda Accord- (As seen in the 'Cog' ad) The estate in dark colours and gunmetal alloys only though. Hyundai Coupe- bargainous coupe motoring, only going to get cheaper and cheaper. Daihatsu Copen, Charade and definitely the YRV Citroen C3 Pluriel - curse word execution, but good idea Vauxhall VX - 'cos everyone buys the lotus instead I've got a bit of a soft spot for the Perouda Kelisa too
(edit- and the Volvo XC90 is almost definitely my least, least favourite modern car)

Ford Focus.
Go outside and look at one. The design is fantastic. It's only because you see them everywhere that you stop thinking about them.

Would you like to lie on the couch and tell me about your bad experiences with estate agents and interior designers? O.k, i admit the people who drive new mini's and beetles are maybe not the kind of dudes we aspire to be like. But does that really stop the cars becoming classics? Have you driven the new works cooper S? Have you seen the new mini convertable? Or the beetle cabrolet come to that? These are beautiful looking cars, which, over your dead body, will become classics. What about those guys in the thirties who gave us the fist beetle? I heard they did some nasty things during the second world war. Does this mean volgswagens can never be classics? I can remember the yuppies gave BM's and Porkers a bad name in the 80's, Does that mean they wont be classics? At the end of the day its the car that we're all interested in here, not the drivers, who usually tend to move on to the next fad as soon as their 2 year free servicing deal runs out. B.t.w how much do you want for that chopper?
