rubber or pu foam strips...maybe slice some plumbing lagging lengthways? that should insulate from the body.

have you had the wings off of your car yet?
i would do that sooner than later with a 75 car as they are supposed to be the crispiest lol.
its a good car to learn how to weld on at least.
do you know if you have a single or dual circuit brake system also, as these change over cars are usually fitted with the single circuit system where one brake fails and they all fail as opposed to the later models that at least allowed either the front or backs to work independently should a hose or caliper fail or something.
i had a vauxhall corsa to slow me down when my brakes failed on my 75 slowing down on the north circular in london approaching a tailback. id look out for the later master cylinder and swap them over.

Carbs fully rebuilt, I think the piping isn't correct however, and looking for that small piece that connects the choke wire to the carbs.  There's a lot of rust coming from inside the wing and sills:  Finally got the front wing off by sitting and cutting through the painted over wing bolts with a hacksaw blade for about 4 hours...is there an easier way? Grinder wouldn't fit in the gap.   Relatively intact under the wheel well, will just need some small patches welded in and painted over |

Fortunately I've been informed it's 1974.5, so one of the earliest models built with the rubber bumpers but with the older style dash and therefore (hopefully) not built with the crappy steel. It's mainly intact, there's a lot of holes, but 90% of them are not structural. I'm tempted to replace some parts with fibreglass however, even with the problems that brings. I don't know about the brakes, jeez though I will have a look into that! rubber or pu foam strips...maybe slice some plumbing lagging lengthways? that should insulate from the body. Would something like a thin camping roll mat work? I assume they are waterproof and have a few kicking about |

definitely look into this master cylinder/dual brake circuit biz yes.
at least you got the nice smiths dials!
i wouldnt put any foamy between the tank and the boot floor as you will be trapping moisture
strips of rubberised tape along the ribbed bits at the most.
i didnt put anything on any of my tanks and at the time didnt notice them doing anything unusual

Thanks, they're off my old Nissan but unfortunately rub on the back suspension   I wasn't sure about painting them, after hearing that they wouldn't last the winter, but they look the same after three years.  Between my two Nissans and this I have quite the range of 4x114.3 wheels. |

that car was a complete budget restore/save £500 car bought unseen and turned up with a dent in every panel, punctures, not running, siezed everything and half the suspension and steering missing-sweet car-said the ad lol  you look to have done alright with your purchase thankfully |

this is the pic i was looking for originally though ofo a p reg 1975 jubilee edition. looked amazing on the outside-little did we know that we'd been driving around in a total deathtrap for a couple of years-as stated previously, still took out a vauxhall corsa lol  |

I have very similar holes in the footwell bit, did you replace yours with panels or just sheet steel?
I'm loving that simple dechromed white look, and the Rostyles look good!

Liking the MGB GT love here - mine is still a work in progress after finding it mostly held together with electrical tape and filler... on the plus side I've learnt (and am learning) a hell of a lot! Here's one of the horror pics... you can see the panels I've had to make and use cleco pins to position  and what it looked like when I got it  If only I knew... I'd probably still have bought it  |

You're either very tall or it's very low! No, I'm 400 miles away at uni for a while and I was in working in California for three months before that. I get a long Christmas break though so hoping to replace the fuel lines, get the tank back on and take it for a drive around the village. I don't think it's moved under its own steam for a decade. |

Good Progress!
I think when doing the sills the best advise is to keep it well supported and straight, take your time and do one side at a time. The GT is easier than the roadster as the roof helps to keep it straight.
