Yo I really like trucks with bullbars and shallow winch bumpers on: I know they are quite obnoxious looking but I can't help it, since I was a toddler I just drew trucks with big ARBs on them lol. Most of my preferences are off road for some reason, car and motorcycle. My dream car is an Impreza Sti. There is just something I love about off road themed vehicles even if they aren't off road.

Here's my old Holden ute with a 5-poster bullbar. It was my daily driver.

This combines two of you interests. The Gravel Express: I've seen these kinds of things before, you would have thought I would be all over that but bull bars on a normal car just don't do it for me. I know it is quite a popular mod in places like Australia and the States. Very nice, it goes well on an Aussie tank to be fair. I've always thought that the Aussie 'Roo bars look particularly brutal. Almost train like, how they are angled forwards like a plough. I'll have a look, thanks.

I'm pretty sure the idea behind angling the bar down is to make the kangaroo go under the car, rather than up into the windscreen. Thankfully, I never hit a kangaroo with mine!

Spend enough time in the welsh mountains and a baa bar becomes a must have trust me they woulsn't last 5 mins against a bull/cow/kangaroo but they will fire a sheep at least 10 feet whilst making an amuzing booooiiiiinnnggggg sound as the woollen wonder flys over the cliff edge thus saving the headlight. The winch fits on the towbar so it's in the locker in the back, no room for it on the front

Isn't it illegal to fit bull bars to newish cars? Like the old type one that bolt straight onto the chassis legs? I'm certain they are in Ireland anyway

Not over here (Australia) although they have to be made by legitimate companies so they don't obstruct the operation of the Airbags. Even the police have nudge bars on some of their camry/aurion/falcon/commodores.

Baa bars, that's interesting, it looks like a skinny bullbar. Also as far as I have read on forums, no one sells proper bull bars in the EU anymore because they are illegal to sell, you can make your own though.

Bull bars are legal in the UK.
But..
It seems they can only be fitted if they are EU type-approved and conform to EU regulations etc etc. They have to be squashy or something so you don't damage a pedestrian if you hit one!
Looks like that rules out making your own then!

Sorry but that does not fit the definition of a friggin "bull bar". Anything squashy is not going to stop a bull is it!? Those pathetic things are for looks only which they fail at as well because they are obviously made of plastic. Bull bars ARE however legal in the EU, but they must be bought second hand since no one is allowed to sell them new. And I mean actual bull bars, not the pretend ones. Legal to have on your car, not legal to sell. Hence my comment about making your own. Confusingly, they have them for sale here, but no pictures, I think that might be for legal reasons: www.arbil.co.uk/4x4/shop/arb-4x4-accessories/arb-protection-equipment/arb-deluxe-bull-bars/

Also as far as I have read on forums, no one sells proper bull bars in the EU anymore because they are illegal to sell, you can make your own though. I made up the baa bar bit (play on words and the fact they wouldn't deflect a bull) they do however deflect sheep, foxes and small deer (the last large deer dented the bonnet) the bars got staightened with rope and a tree. The ones on the P100 are nudge bars made by the same company that made the bed covers (truckman) and sold as nudge bars, bullbar is just a name everyone gives to every style like all vacumes are called hoovers ect. I spend a lot of time in the mountains/welsh wilds walking, gold panning, tecting, collecting hay and clearing old disused garages/workshops so the reality is they spend more time nudging bushes and small braches out of the way than any animate object, they have however "saved" the front end from an errant pallet pump truck (fell out of a lorry) 2 rampaging blown out lorry tyres on the A40, 4 sheep 2 foxes and 3 deer and more wheely bins than i care to remember (they really do just "walk" out into the road on windy days in London! ) only 1 sheep died (got fired over a cliff) but it was the fall not the bars that did it (well more acuratly it was the sudden stop at the bottom that did it not the actuall fall) the rest survived to fook off and leave me to change my undercrackers at the side of a dark lonely road , deers are the worst as they just leap into/accross the road sheep tend to be slower and not live in forests where they can ambush you so really it should be a deer bar but that don't ryme

Pictures of cars with sticky-out bumper bits The forward pointy ones look most odd, gotta say, I prefer the traditional style.
