Thanks for explaining. I was right I should have paid more attention !
Without thinking about it too much a tube looks like it would just shear off if you subjected it to much twist.

I've always used cheap Erw tube rather than cds to make my bars as the angles of twist are pretty low to overcome the point where it won't spring back and my bends are always well under 90deg so the forces are trying to twist the tube as much as possible . . I'd imagine making one with a solid bar would need some heat treatment to work

Without thinking about it too much a tube looks like it would just shear off if you subjected it to much twist.[/quote] Anything will shear if twisted too much :-) Anti-roll bar design is a science and needs careful consideration as it affects all aspects of your car's handling. Simply bolting another one on to the existing bar is what we did 40 years ago when we knew SFA and isn't really the way to go these days.
