Hi all, the time has come to sell my beloved Volvo 760 saloon due to me having bought an xjr with a few issues (shock). The car is a Volvo 760 turbo with a four speed manual and electronic overdrive. It has 147000 miles and leather upholstery. It has the legendary Volvo turbocharged redblock engine producing 180hp and 260Nm (www.autoevolution.com/cars/volvo-760-1982.html#aeng_volvo-760-1982-23-turbo-182-hp) These engines are well known for their strength and reliability with 300bhp easily obtainable on stock internals. This is an unmolested example running on stock boost and I expect it to go on for many more miles.
The Good. The car has a stamped service history up to 120000 and a huge sheaf of bills and invoices, it has had thousands spent in its upkeep. After this I serviced it myself. Within the last 15000 miles it has had: New head gasket, new clutch, cam belt, crank oil seal, fronts disks and pads, clutch slave cylinder, two oil and filter changes and gearbox oil seal. The car always starts first time and has never let me down. The suspension was fully refreshed in 2012 at 116000 miles. It has had four new tyres within the last thousand miles and a full size spare. The car has central locking that works faultlessly and has two sets of keys. The car will also come with a copy of the Haynes manual. It is an easy car to work on with a cavernous engine bay and boot. The car has MOT until 06/07/2016. The car has auxiliary heaters at the back to help defrost the rear window and three rear full seatbelts. The body work is good for its age with no major patches of rust, but a few bubbles are starting to appear
The Bad. The car is missing its radio antenna (£12 on ebay) and has a damaged rear light and a damaged front top lense (not main headlight). These can replaced cheaply with ebay parts. The front calipers have a tendency to stick on causing braking to fade after about 20 miles, these can be replaced for around £50 or rebuilt with a £5 kit. I would recommend the car being trailered away if you live more than 10 miles away. The heater matrix is leaking but that can be blanked off and replace with an electric one from a Peugeot. I will include the rubber pipe to blank it off.

I cannot comment but if they are like a 2.3i on K-Jet and running well they are not as bad as you think. My 740 2.3i Auto did around 33MPG and on a run it did around 36! dollywobbler quoted similar figures when I sold it to him. Free bump. If this was an estate I would have been very tempted and possibly been offering a P/X!

Hi, quite interested in this. Literally just created an account to ask if its still available....
How bad is the brakes situation? Is it in a decent enough state to drive? I live just outside Coventry so not too far.
Other than the obvious stuff, and mechanical/ electrical issues with it?
Cheers.
