Ha. i think the best way to put the scooby lump in would be to do a full beetle floorpan swap A VW Type 3 rear subframe might be easier... I think I posted about Lee Maynards VW powered Dauphine drag car really early on in the thread. That uses a custom tube chassis built inside the majority of the original monocoque to put a narrowed Beetle beam in the front and a custom ladder bar suspension set up in the back. Now running a 1956cc flat four with a Rajay turbo and a sidedraft carb. Goes well... No need for a water pump either...

I remember my dad telling me about rally car in the 1970s (Walter Rohrl in a 911 springs to mind) - when the gearstick snapped off in the middle of a stage, the co-driver simply jammed a screwdriver in the stub and continued for the rest of the rally!

Manual choke done, I got hold of the longest push/pull choke cable I could find but it's still didnt reach from the rear to the front of the car and to the underside of the dash, I have instead fitted it beside the handbrake and its works very well. Hooked up to my diy auto choke delete. The bigger engine and carb will require a manual choke also so its future proofing it.

Adey Is the speedo in mph or kph and what does the sticker on the dash day please? It reads in MPH, the dash sticker has "if you soil this vehicle a charge will be made" on it
