Hi folks, picked this up over a month ago for 2250 pounds, only after getting around to putting it into the shed yesterday, with the amount of rain we've had unfortunately the interior has suffered at the sunroof seems to be leaking so I've put a dehumidifier in to deal with the water.it seems to have a lot of extras fitted including electric rear blind, fully electric seats inc headrests, think it may be a highline,it's automatic but I've been offered a full 1982 manual car and was thinking of doing a conversion on this one. The drivers side wing needs attention and the rear arches are crusty, the plastic arches mouldings have helped the rear arches rust nicely, runs and drives well. But I'm going to get it fully painted as although it looks fine, there's a mark of some description on nearly all panels and the bonnet is a different shades, any thoughts?

Nice. I love these. Spares car was a bargain too even though it looks nicely crusty.

Good luck with the water ingress set back. Did it make it to the floor where there is thick soundproofing to suck in and hold the water creating a breeding pot for rust....? I had to remove the carpet and sound proofing from my e30 after it fell ill to the same fate as yours.

The later cars are the ones I love myself The spares car is well cheap and may not yield much for me but should break nicely luckily it hasn't reached the soundproofing and I've acted fairly quick with the dehumidifier so all should be ok,back of the rear left sill wants a bit of tlc

I am in the minority that prefers the Highline. Don't forget that the Highline has a different separate rubber backed foam soundproofing under the carpet and a thin carpet.
I've never taken a Highline carpet out and found dry soundproofing. The top of rubber may look dry and the carpet may be dry, but if you lift the rubber, I suspect the foam'll be soaking.
Are you sure the blind is electric? I'd be very interested to see that.
We have rear arch repair panels in stock.

I'm gona pull the carpet right out the weekend so,armed with your advice, I love the highlines too ,why are we in the minority i wonder?

Hi. £180 the pair delivered in the UK. I'll need to check for Eire. Though I could send them to parcel hotel. Have you tried them?
The Highline is heavy and considered bloated compared to the cleaner lines of the earlier car.
But the interior and the engine and engine management system make them for me.

I'm more into the highlines or tech 2 cars in the e30,the interiors are horrible in the early cars and I'm not a lover of too much chrome
Mine has a steering wheel similar to a tech1 e30 3 spoke ,is there any nicer options oem or aftermarket available.
Also can I use the early car to convert mine to manual,or is there any major differences? As I presume it should be relatively straight forward
I'd be interested in the repair sections ,I have a UK address in Northern Ireland too.

Beautiful car with nice Alpina bits: a good buy for sure!
My "heresy" M6 is a chrome bumper car with a highline interior being fitted (except for proper highback recaros).
Good luck with the resto,
Rob

You can use the early car to convert your car to manual. The brake operation is different. Your master cylinder operates directly on the pedal, the earlier car uses the E30 style link rod to a remote master cylinder.
Swap all the pedals from the manual car into your pedal box. Don't swap the pedal boxes. The sensors in the gearbox of the manual car aren't used on yours. Block up the holes.
You'll need pedals; flywheel, clutch hydraulics; prop; gearbox and shift mech; clutch and, probably, the diff (it should be LSD in the manual car and depending on the box might need the longer ratio)
Weigh the flywheel. The standard one is 22lbs. The lightweight one is 15 and it makes a huge difference to the way the car drives.
We can lighten a standard one for you.
It'll all bolt on.
I never noticed the Alpina airdam. If genuine, that's a rare Highline item.
The M-Tech one wheel is the standard upgrade. An M-Tech 2 will fit. As will Alpina and Hartge stuff. If it fits an E30, it'll fit your late E24. The wheel out of the breaker might not fit though.
Any history with the car?
