An hour or so on the car this morning as it was dry outside and I had cut the grass yesterday! Uncover the patient and begin prep for surgery. Find the bucket of tubes and triangles an select two triangles. curse word - not a right angle - so carry out suitable adjustment. After suitable angular adjusting - clamp in place And with old school transformer - non inverter - type MIG welder run some beads. Also plugged up that gap in the centre whilst I was at it and then flattened and cleaned things off so the alloy will sit flush. Much better. - Better find some holes to drill to compensate for the extra weight..... Then went off to go some G27 stuff. - Next thread please.

Did a couple of quick jobs today. Mounted the fans to rad - 6 small brackets that have stainless steel cap heads welded on the back to provide studs. Mounted up very securely. Followed this by welding up more small fixing holes in the chassis and completing small welds here and there - no photo's as it's just more of the same. Bit of grinding down tomorrow, some wiping down and I may start doing a bit of painting with some epoxy mastic.

Flaming June... This is the size of the floor pan of a Strato's - 13" wheel 155 tyre and a metre rule for comparison. Bit of grinding off of the welding done - far too hot to do any painting but did a fair bit of prep and all the wax oil has been washed off ready for the box sections to be scuffed up for paint. A bit of cad and angle finding for the back stays - which gives me a few little brackets to make in the week.

I am not a great lover of heat and this is as far I could manage this evening. Just marking up - Figured I would go with sloping lower brackets - See if I can get all these done by the end of the week. This turned up on ebay @ £15K - lasted a day before it sold - if it did actually sell being ebay - Strong money for a project but no doubt the man had a great deal more than that sunk into it.

As it's too warm to get much done I figured I would do what I had been promising myself for years and get a CAD program up and running to reintroduce myself to drawing. I started out my career as a draughtsman in building service engineering decades ago, (Terence Lee Associates) in the days draughting film, Rotring pen and oh the smell of dyeline..... Autocad and CAD-CAM was in its infancy when at college and I recall the amount of time it took to refresh even the simplest for drawings. Anyway I downloaded Librecad - simple enough free package and got stuck in with producing a drawing of the bracket above. YAY. - Could have marked out and made them all in the time it took me to do but I am getting quicker. I have also downloaded FreeCAD onto another machine to have a play with at a later stage - when up to a better speed as for now the 2D is adequate. The main reason for getting started with this is to draw up the front end of the G27 and produce a cutting and marking out list for the tubes and brackets for the front suspension - However this will also be useful for drawing up the Strato's

Draftsight is good. Basically autocad (looks similar and functions similar) but given out free by dasault systems the guys who do solidworks / catia.
Well worth getting.

I am clunking along on an old Vista machine with this one, I will see if I can get Draftsight on the other machine and see what it does. It's your posts that have been instrumental in me pulling my finger out!

Extended it a bit further to include the tube - getting a bit quicker now with it as well. I have finished making the brackets as well and they tuck up under the bodyshell onto the cage very nicely - just the lower brackets to finish the fabrication on, and hope that the temperature drops a little.

That Autocad stuff is epic! I would love to be able to do that, but would probably never get anything else done! The ebay Stratos was just up the road a bit from me, was thinking of looking at it but a bit too pricey if I am logical about it.

The ebay Stratos was just up the road a bit from me, was thinking of looking at it but a bit too pricey if I am logical about it. The little bit that I have started to do in 2D has helped me no end. If I had pulled my finger out earlier I would have drawn everything up before hand which will have made checking all the suspension geometry an easier task. probably would not have helped with the exhaust hitting the chassis issue as I probably would not have gone as far as drawing up all the individual components. I am enjoying getting back into drawing again though. Replica prices have never been what you could call cheap but prices have increased significantly over the past few years. That car still needs IVA, registration, paint etc. and the amount of work left depends on the skill of the builder (pictures and the time taken are a possible indication)and how much you would have to undo (a great deal I suspect). As I know quite a few of the flaws in the in the Corse i I would not even dream of starting with one at that price - I would be straight on the phone to Craig at Lister Bell to get on the waiting list, get the deposit down, and then continue saving. Many people who have picked up an old Corse project have thrown away the body and fitted the LB panels due to how poor the originals are. Love your build by the way.

google sketchup is free, easy to learn and can do 3d reasonably well. We use solidworks for most things, but that's too much money unless you are using it commercially

This mornings works The photo does not do it justice - This morning in the sun it really looked spectacular - even in this state. One of those Feck me that's cool moments that give a justification to the efforts. Did the final cleaning up of the old engine mount. When the prep is done correctly the mounting bush just pops into place These take a fair amount of time to do as all of the fittings are a non clearance to keep everything and tight as possible. Time for a sun screen top up and then some welding.

Early lunch - too much Centishines for my liking. Fitted and ready for welding And welded ready for a dusting of protection. Not fully ready for paint yet as there will probably be a few brackets to mounted on these - It is usual to mount a set of pins for added security - Two sets here below a set for the rear clam and a set that appears to double up for the clam and the louvres.

And a few shots with back stays and door bars in and a look around to see what space there is for that clam mount... ...that will be a case of just enough then! Back stays - crossed of the list - clam shell mount added.

Funny you should mention that - I was looking back through the thread to find the photo of the Clam mounts - March and there I was asking what the hell was going on with the sub zero temps etc. To me that now looks like CAD weather -
