With scrap below £25 a ton it's easy to buy cars cheap at the moment. I recently bought a 99 Fiesta 1250 with a full tank of petrol 6 months MOT and a slipping clutch for £40, salvaged the gas, put a euro car parts cheap clutch in it (£50) and sold it for £275. Every cloud has a silver lining!

That makes my car buying and changing habits look much tamer - thank you sir! Nice blog. The cars just seemed to keep popping up for sale at reasonable amounts of money so I bought them. I totalled up how much I'd spent just on purchase price and it ended up at around £7225, I deducted the price I sold anything for and ended up with £725 and a few cars left over. I'm not really in the habit of selling cars, especially selling them on at a profit so I was surprised at the numbers. Obviously I should have totalled what I spent on the cars during my ownership including tax and insurance but I'm not sure I want to know... This year I am going to try keeping on top of maintaining the cars I've got but still find myself browsing ebay for the next thing... |
