The clips that go around leaf springs that keep the leaves together have broken. They appear to be riveted into the leaf itself. How is it best to replace them?? The springs themselves are in good condition so no point in sending them off for refurb. Springs are off a 49 chevy pickup. Thanks for any ideas.

I re-packed a set of leaf springs and for the clamps I folded some mild steel flat bar into shape and used countersunk bolts with the heads ground flush to hold them on.

As above really. They're countersunk clout rivets usually, which aren't too hard to get, or you could use a countersunk pop rivet or bolt. Drill or grind and drift the old ones out first obviously. Io think Chevy ones bend all the way round don't they? You could change to the type that just come up the sides then are drilled for a bolt over the top to make them easier to reassemble.
