Enjoyed the last WD featuring the Noble M12.
But was horrified to see Edd cut away part of the chassis and replace it with a bolt-on section.
This has replaced a stiff member (oooh missus) with effectively a chain link, with no stiffness in the shear direction.
On a lesser car, I'd say fine. But on a 300bhp 160mph racing car - around the engine support?
I suppose Edd thought it through and maybe took advice and was possibly under time pressure to avoid engine removal.
But why bodge it for the sake of avoiding engine removal on a car like this?

Yes, I watched it...it did seem rather unorthadox thing to do.. but I am sure he must have sought advice first. It has introduced a weakness now though and an area for rust to start. I think he was trying to get out of it a little by saying it was a brace rather than chassis member. Unfortunately I haven't seen it yet despite featuring in the episode! Sounds an unusual fix can't wait to watch it now. Wait..what, you were on telly?! In WD? Err, hope you not the guy that bought the Noble then

He didnt cover over the cut chassis either. Water will surely get in and rot the chassis from the inside out?

Didn't see the programme ,, this is my fav car series on the box tho, but one thing very small that annoys me, they never factor in the price of the detailed valet the cars have?? We all know a proper valet, not a quick wash over costs a fortune , but it's worth every penny to a cars resale they definetly have this done on the cars rebuilt, so why no mention of it?? Sorry to go off the topic a bit!

I really didnt like the way he cut that chassis member either. At the very least, he should have put in some tubular sleeves into the fixed pieces of the chassis to stop them crushing or the bolts pulling out. Another bodge.
Ive really started to lose interest in the show lately.
I started to have a bit of faith again after last weeks Corrado, until I read on another forum that the car was originally advertised for sale with a knackered clutch, rear shocks, and horrendous stone chips. All of which were repaired on the show but clearly glossed over.
How much do you reckon it cost him to get that Noble back from Italy? None of that was added to the final build price was it?
I could happily just watch an hr long programme of Edd showing you how to repair cars without all of the other dramatic poo and regular 10 minutes catch ups.

Mike talks about this a lot when he's doing public appearances. Basically they will do a list of jobs between them but at the end of the day, it's not solely up to them what makes it to the telly!

i don't like the fact they never cover the cost of the labour and take that into consideration when adding total cost on car

i don't like the fact they never cover the cost of the labour and take that into consideration when adding total cost on car Then, you, like many others miss the whole point of the show . . . . . The idea is to show how you can work on a car yourself to increase it's value for profit - your reward is the profit.

The show doesn't include labour costs because it is meant to be showing us, the viewers how to diy ! same goes for the detailing, your meant to do it yourself. Although this latest serious they're doing more and more that is not really possible for the diy/ home mechanic ! But originally they'd get cars for about a grand and Ed would basically tart it up, but the programme has moved onwards and upwards - but he does often say, if you were to get a garage to do this it would cost ex £'s.
I'm sure he must research cars, because there is just so many different makes and models, and when Mike brings a car back, as soon as Ed comes out of the garage, he'll say, Oh, its a _ _ _ _ _ + whatever, and he'll real of certain problems and cures !

It isn't done a few weeks at a time as the show suggests. They basically draw up a list of cars they'll do. Buy them all at the same time and then start filming "the work" lol. When Mike buys the cars in America, they're all shipped back together!

Its a strange programme. There is so much I cant stand about it yet, I love it and persistently record every episode.
The first few series were the best, but then they have changed with the times. The first few series were filmed prior to the massive rise of "internet experts" and youtube showing explaining hot to do everything. Back then the cars were done cheaply, by Edd, and as simply as possible. Not many of the cars received full paint jobs, instead recieving rattle can repairs by Edd. But, they were done properly and were indeed jobs that you could do at home.
Lately the cars have become more and more adventurous and the profits and sales more questionable.
There were two main episodes that ruined the show for me and they were - The Mercdez SLK - Mike went to a professional Mercedes breakers yard and walked away with four alloys, a stereo, a body panel and an SLK supercharger all for £450!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolute bull***t, The charger alone would have been over £800.
The Audi TT - Mike bagged a 6 speed, 225bhp TT for very littel money with a knackered gearbox. Edd fixed the gearbox for about £1.50 using just a nut and bolt. Really?? No car trader would sell that car so cheaply. Not when a decent gearbox can be had for about £500. And if Edd was able to do the research and and find that the selector was the probable fault, why couldnt the experienced car dealer?
And don't get me started on the terrible "Trading up" series.
They need to go back to their roots, stop "dumbing-down" the show with all of the American-type recaps, and stick with cars that most of us would have a go at.
The positives of the show - Edd showing that all cars, no matter what, can be fixed if you are prepared to just get stuck in and have a go, Eds workshop, and the way they have been showing how British firms repair components, rather than just buying new ones.
