But since 1984 when I was 15 I've owned somewhere around 500 cars, managed to pi$$ off my parents, two wives, countless neighbours.....but I've enjoyed every moment and my 12 year old lad is now joining in and the wife has come round to my addiction, now the cars, well mainly ford escorts, cortinas, capris, my love is now with 90s mercs, my lad has just got a mk6 escort , a future classic I'm sure,,...just enjoy it were only on this planet for a short time, now I need that stag I've always wanted!

Most people do tend to buy almost the same car over and over again. I want to try as many different driving experiences as possible!
1990 Nissan Pintara TR.X 1970 VW 1500 Beetle 1973 VW Type 3 Squareback 1984 Holden WB Ute 1971 VW S-Bug 1995 Suzuki Sierra 1990 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST185 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX STI
I'm on a turbo 4wd thing at the moment, but I'm very tempted to buy something with a V8 in it, possibly another ute. And one day I want a proper vintage pre-war car, and two seater sports car, and generally check off the list of all possible types of car. Maybe even an Italian supercar if I'm lucky!

There is definitely a certain commonality to my list of past and present cars. 3 Minis, long gone but would have another one if the opportunity arose, 3 BMC 1300s, inc. Wolseley as my daily from 2006-2013, still got that and an Austin which sadly is now too rusty to ever be recovered, '51 Standard Vanguard, was my semi daily in the mid '80s along with one of the Minis, still got it put away in a garage but I haven't driven it since then, '47 Austin 3 tonner with a recovery crane, bought as a project in the late '80s, gave it to my brother in the mid '90s and he sold it on, supposedly for pulling logs out of the bush, '74 TK Bedford 5 tonner flat deck, was my work truck in the mid '90s, sold after 3 years for what I paid for it, '78 Allegro 1300, always liked these, would have another one, '79 Toyota Cressida, ex wife got this in '99, wish I'd had the money to pay her out and keep it, '80 Honda Civic, first registered in '81 and been in the family from new but now too rusty to ever legally go back on the road, always starts though, plus '82 (I think) parts car, 4 Ford Falcon station wagons, in order of purchase (all as daily use cars this century) '78 '91 '89 '90, still got them all in varying states of repair with the '90 being my current daily, '57 Fordson Major E1A, my current main project on the rare occasions that I get time to work on anything, '78 Mercedes Benz 0305 bus, bought it cheap minus engine and trans to strip out for use as an on site caravan but the number plates are still alive so I guess it counts. Does that list suggest I like BMC stuff and Oz Fords or just that I collect a lot of junk? Never had a new car and probably never will. The closest I ever got was a 6 year old Mini Clubman 1100 when I was 19.

My car ownership went in phases, starting with cheap 1.3s (Allegro and mk2 Escort) when I was learning, bunch of mk2 and mk3 Cavaliers once I'd passed my test as the old man worked for Vauxhall, buses and trains when I went back to College to do my HND, then as the money started to come in in the mid 90s came the hot hatches, a heavily modded mk3 Fiesta 1.6S, Scirocco GTi and the best hot hatch ever, a really minty Pug 1.9 GTi.
I'd always been in love with BMWs and German cars in general, and I popped my Bavaria cherry in style with an E23 728i followed by an E24 635 CSi. This would have been late 90s.
In 2000 I began travelling for work so along came a raft of company cars, most shocking (Auris hybrid = misery) but I had two good ones, a Mondeo Ghia X and an Alfa 156 2.4 MJet Veloce fully loaded to TI spec.
Between jobs I ran a right mix of p/x bargains bought from mates in the trade including an Alfa 155 2.0 TS an E36 320i and my Del Sol which I kept for years plus cars bought off neighbours including a mint W124 230E and a Nissan Bluebird ZX Turbo which I bought for £200.
So, bit of an eclectic mix. The fleet today consists of my E30, E93 320d and my LT35 van - my love of Bavarian metal shining through again.

BROWN! All my recent cars over the last 10 years have been brown. Not sure why but it's a popular period 70's colour in various shades! From Mk2 Escort to Capri, V8 Rover to Sierra to Datsun, a few Mk1 Fiests's, Allegro to Toyota, Marina back to Escort. Wife thinks it's hilarious and an obsession but its just bad luck. My current car is burnt orange but even a recent parking ticket stated brown!
Brown car's possibly cheaper than the red ones? I honestly believe the brown ones are the fastest!

Though it looks like 3 box saloons are the most common reoccurrence (other than golfs) mostly poverty spec cars with next to no luxury. Back to basics driving!
