After care? Give it a wipe down... Dunno about polishing; wet sanding? You'd have a hell of a job either way. stealthstylz has a cleaning regime for his car and it looks great.

You can't wax it. All you can do is wash it with decent car shampoo. You can wetsand and buff it to gloss though, but it'd probably need a lot of waxing and polishing to keep it gloss.
I have finally got around to painting the front bumper (Matt Black MTN94 Graffiti rattle can) and there was some unfix-able damage. I always wanted legit(ish) drift stitches!
I put her in for MOT this morning and she failed on a few things.
Front brakes need bleeding (which I knew about) Couple of bulbs need replacing (I thought I checked all)
The worst of it was she failed on emissions - the tester said its most likely a vacuum leak? Can anyone point me in the right direction of the vacuum system - what pipes should I replace and what size/type pipes I need to buy?
On quick inspection I have already found 2 splits. Would these add to my high warm idle / rough running / high emissions? If so what pipes are they and where can I get replacements please?
Here is a pic of the resulting failed emissions test
And the MOT fail sheet
Front brakes need looking at - I hope to get to this tomorrow. Front number is just sitting on the dash for now so I need to get it on properly. Work required for omissions? One of the rear reg plate lamps fell out so I need to attach this back up. Battery insecure? I need to figure out a way of holding it down?
I thought older cars like this were only a visual smoke check on emssions, I've never had mine 'tested' with a probe... mines 1991 Honda...
maybe it needs a good hard drive before it's MOT to clear it out a little
Then you've never had a legitimate MOT test, something I wouldn't want to go shouting about in this dvla online day and age. The visual smoke check applies to vehicles first used before 1975. Your '91 Honda should have to pass a BET CAT test unless special manufactures test provisions are given.
OK so I stripped the front calipers down as the pistons were sticking. Pain in the butt but sorted. I also fitted a strap for the battery and fixed the rear reg light. I couldnt find any local factors with the 10mm internal dim hose so eBay should be sending me a length tomorrow. It should pass then?
Here is a pic as I rolled her out before works began.
I've had emissions issues before, mine was a temperature sender causing the car to over fuel. Cheap fix, also on your drive to the test get the car red hot, leave it in gear etc for longer then usual.
For your pipe, can't you get by with electrical tape for now?
OK so I fixed everything on the list of failures including the 2 split pipes ...MOT wise she is good to go BUT the emissions didnt come down enough  The MOT tester says I need to adjust the mixture screw as it is still over fueling slightly.

well I'm not going to moan, I couldn't care less what comes out the back, as using an older car even if bad on emissions is still a smaller carbon footprint than buying a new car...

And ideas guys?
did you get the car up to temperature and give it a dammed good thrash?? I always used an MOT 15miles away instead of the ones in my town, just so I could take it for a thrash
I took it back today to check the emissions and the MOT tester hinted towards a possible culprit. I removed a pipe and blocked both ends. The car run much smoother and it would pass emissions!
Remember I also turned in the fuel mixture which brought down the CO but raised the HC. Then blocking the below brought it all down. She runs much nicer and cleaner and faster now!
Just got to book her in for a proper retest but they are not happy that the throttle sticks when I drive it - at about 1800 revs - I have to push it down with my finger from on top of the engine to where I cannot get the car to tick over less than 1200 revs? If I force the throttle 'thing' down I can get the car to rev at around 800 but as I let go it returns to 1200 revs. I have turned the idle screw and fast idle screws out. I have backed out the choke so that it doesnt even come on.
Its as if something else is keeping the throttle open? Another screw somewhere? Add some lube somewhere?
Have a couple of pics as she sits outside the MOT centre
Hi, It might be the throttle cable sticking, try disconnecting the cable from the lever on the carb. If it does idle better see how smooth the throttle cable inner moves in the outer, there should be no sticking or notchiness. Either replace or use the inner from a cheap choke cable and remake the ends.

BET CAT test? pre cat test I guess..
Basic Emissions Test, I was a year wrong, for vehicles first used after 1992, but your car would still be subject to a non-cat emissions check and must meet the same standards as posted in the photo, 3.5% CO and 1200 HC PPM.
