cars been sat for a couple years.... UPDATE pg2

weeeeelll, this car i started the thread on - i got it in teh end.

wasnt actually local it was the other end of the earth - good 400mile round trip.

a hair raising non stop journey with a trailer and car + trailer on teh way back.

a months worth of fiddling with siezed bits and waiting on parts - got it mot'd on saturday - passed first time no advisories - thanks to my dad doing the mot - and getting a tenner knocked off.

£40 worth of parts and time - and now I'm driving this - sorry non retro but for the price - me no care ;D


handles pretty damn well, fairly quick in a straight line, grips like crazy, all more or less standard, mechanically sound - just needing a bit of a service really and some cosmetics. job done!

the guy i bought it off didnt use it as the air con broke and caused other belts to screech. he thought this was fatal and just simply didnt use it. nice guy but not quite mechanically minded it seemed.

was totally filthy - green stuff all over so defo been sitting and brakes siezed etc. i heard about it from a guy that had been walking past it everyday for the last year and went enquired about it. even so its pretty straight, hpi clear, etc. really don't know why he didnt look it up on auto trader to see the going rate - but it had no mot - sorn for long time, non runner, i guess he thought that it was worth what he thought it was worth.

i found the reciept from when he bought it in the service history for £5500 so he got it for a decent price anyway and must have figured the price and its issues from that.

i paid the right side fo £3k for it. only issues that arnt related to its hibernation period is that most the panels are a different shade of white. both bumpers have been resprayed and both doors have had repairs.
