What about converting it to an auto? One of the modernish American gearboxes should be strong enough if Merc don't do one. Would make it more sensible for touring but still probably be just as quick/quicker when needed. A manualised beefed up Yankee autobox with a 3000 ish stall convertor would be the perfect transmission. DPUK even do an adaptor-plate for this and I have driven a OM606/4L80 powered Charger with this set up. Very smooth and you could load it up on the convertor for super take offs!

Nice build! Properly done. Just talked with one local owner how was pushing closer to 700hp. CDI gearbox seems to be the trend, at least in Finland. Those are really sturdy, easier to fit and have more gears. Nice to see more compound setups coming, it is a nice setup for daily, wakes early and pull's like a train.

Went to DPUK yesterday and the rollers on their Dyno have much more aggressive groves which stop the wheels spinning. Managed to do a full pull for the first time without any slip and OMG she put it down.
Heart breaker Dyno too - no wonder it feels feral on the road!!!!

Bet that would do some awesome N/S wheel pulls if you could get enough traction.

Funnily enough, the day before you wrote that I was cocking about with some good friends in some old smokers and managed to lift the NS wheel coming over a crest what in 3rd in a 400+ BHP 124 estate! Its got a Quaife ATB and when it hooks up the front lifts in a comical fashion. A still is attached; the rest of the vid to be linked to this thread in mid Oct hopefully.

16 seconds of gold (for me) – turn those speakers right up!!!
I’m not sure what is my favourite bit? The speed of the thing as it arrives in shot and departs out the other side, or is it the tyre noise? the ripping through the air noise? the ‘airliner turbofan’ turbo noise or the reactions of the small crowd at the end of the runway???
Dead Chuffed. Enjoy.

Neil – That’s a mk3 white Astra GSi AKA The Ashtray. I got talking to the owner/builder Joe and what a super chap he is too. One of ‘Our People’. Its running a heavily boosted Redtop pumping out a good 700 brake, now consider it probably weighs 700kg (its stripped)….
Its party piece was doing the whole run with both front tyres lit. Its one of the few vids I took that day – I’ll see if I can upload a copy, however the wind noise is terrible. I really should have got a ride in it – the highlight of the day for me.
