Senator A has the same rear independent set up as the Monza. Not sure what would have a 5 stud live axle apart from the Commodore. I know the FE VX4 / 90 is live axle and 5x120 but not sure whether it's compatible or adaptable.

New Zealand and Australia got those badged as Holdens with the 3.3 litre Holden six but only the four door and the station wagon not the two door. What year is that one?

The car is a 1979. The Rekord is possibly the same? How can something that is GM be so rare? What about an Ascona axle? I feel some difficulties coming on.

Ooooh hello! I have a lot of love for big old GM machines so I really hope things go well with this one, stick with it OP and best of luck! Cheers I hope so. I too havean affection for the big old Vauxhall's but have only had a Rekord for a brief time before passing it on. This however may be different what with it being so rare. I am getting a lot of help from the German guys today regarding sourcing an axle. One has turned up in Denmark as well. What did we do for sourcing rare parts before the internet eh?

Ian and I are communicating by PM thank you for asking. I still have to figure if it is indeed the same hence help from ze germans. If it fits I will indeed have it. Put yourself in my situation wouldn't you want to know something fitted 100% for sure before paying for it and then getting it pallet shipped from UK all the way to Spain?

Iirc, the manta boys used to steal the axles from these when making 400 replicas This is correct. The Ascona and Manta 400 had a 5 link rear live axle set up which used the Commodore Axle. The only other car I know of with the same set up is the Vauxhall Viceroy.

Yep and the Viceroy is the same half way house car as a Commodore C - Monza/Senator Front end (Turrets in the engine bay are a giveaway) - Live axle rear end - 5 linked (Same set up as the earlier Commodore B) The commodore B has effectively same set up as a Manta front end (ie double wishbone - no turrets) K5 is being told the Commodore B rear axle and spring mounts are different to Commodore C - so he's looking elsewhere - I'm not in a position to argue the toss either way - I just know that plenty of Commodore B's have had their rear axles grafted into Mantas and Asconas over the years. Mainly because they sold so few Viceroys in the UK compared to Commodore B (that and Commodore B's were older so hit the scrap yards sooner......

If I was in the same country it wouldn't be a problem. I am in Spain however. I have to be 100% sure and nobody else had come through with "yes it will/won't fit". I don't have the car yet in order to investigate more and it needs an axle to be here pretty much as soon as the car arrives. A car with no rear axle is a problem to move around. I can't even get it into my garage until it has one.

Just received some info that the C axle is wider than the B as well. Obviously mine has been nicked for a Manta 400 conversion.
