After the wet sanding, I had a holiday planned. I couldn't get out of it anymore sadly. haha. But my cousin said he'd keep me posted. While the car was in the paint shop, he continued on some of the small parts I wanted to detail aswell before putting them on the car again. Blackened grill again with yellow detail. I actually wanted to keep it in the original colors. But me being on holiday, I didn't have much control on the matter anymore. It's not that bad, maybe I'll keep it. Making it entirely black isn't too difficult either Door handles Mirrors

The original rear hatch on this car was very bad. It was going to need so much work, that it was better to replace it. The cause of it becoming so bad was that it lacked the water drainage tubes. in the corners of the window edge. So all the water just sat on the inside of the panels. To make sure that the entire car was saved from this kind of exposure to moisture (one of the main ingredients of rust) we decided to make sure water would never remain trapped in these tubes or in the car body again. New tubes in rear hatch Making sure they come out of the underside, never letting water touch the body. Same for the side windows. originally, these tubes just let the water drip onto the sills... Made sure they came out of the bottom, again no water in the car.

Inside shot of the car, looking clean and tidy. Rear window put in. Don't know if I should buy spacers for the rear wheels yes or no... Inside panorama. Not really useful but what the heck. Some carpeting details, glove compartment completely done, to cover insulation and make everything tidy.

Finally getting her on all fours. Detail of horn, repainted Front numberplate holder detail. Kind of tacky, but it's subtle enough.

On the last picture the overall looks is very close to what I wanted to achieve for now. I am very happy with the results so far. Continued work on interior. The roof panel started sagging when I just bought the car. So I mostly drove around without one. I decided to do the roofpanel myself early on. But it was mid winter, I didn't have a suitable location to work in, so I had to do it in a cold, dark shed. Resulting in poor work of course. Here is a pic of ripping the fabric off again, you can see how it let loose in various parts of the panel. I first chose a light grey leather look fabric. But after driving in my friend's new BMW X3, which had an all black finish interior roof and pillars, I wanted it too. It's actually better, you can't stain it, and doesn't ask that much attention. Here it is
