To me one of my favourite aspects of Retro Rides is the different opinions held by its members, and the range of different cars owned by them. It wouldn't do for everyone to be the same. I don't think anyone was "flaming" anyone else for not posting much or indeed setting up another forum - it's not as if anyones done retro-rides-is-wibblepoo.com ;D Those that have set up vehiclenation deserve encouragement - It didn't hold my personal interest but then neither would a lot of other car forums. I rememeber visiting Retro-rides when there was only a handful of members - everyone has to start somewhere BGTMidget - How is your turbo project going? I heard that you're doing Megasquirt too! I'm doing a similar thing... it'd be nice to compare notes

Hello, I have been AWOL for over a week now aswell. Just had an absolute hellish few days at work which meant every second spent chasing round after one thing or another. Anyway , its calmed a bit now. I did however miss the Spamspeed RR day in Bristol which I feel bad about - sorry Ratters, sounds like I missed a good day.

"but would want to see what they think goes on in the mind of a designer,) and to seem 'witty and spontaneous'!" Buit sadly they seem neither witty or spontanious, or indeed even particularly creative! Just dull and pretentious, especially the graduate geezer who thinks he's an "artist". That's my point, as usual we're fed to what the middle class desk-chained-middle-manager type wants, whether it's an accurate or even convincing (or entertaining, I don't watch these no good bloody reality TV shows at all!) programme or not. Talking of middle class in charge types, I had a remark made at my expense today about how if I was a contented, well adjusted member of society I would get on a lot better, now isn't that the stupidest, most middle class piece of rubbish you've ever heard. People like to assume that if you make particular lifestyle choices, such as driving an old car, wearing what you want to, not what is fashionable and listening to music you want to, you need "adjusted" and changed in order to be some better kind of person! curse word! And it's not the first time I've been criticised about my Imp either, I get idiots come up to me in all sorts of places at all sorts of times asking when I'm going to "get a proper car" instead of what I have. I answer them by asking when they're going to get themselves some opinions of their own instead of doing what everyone else is doing!

Rev, you get more and more militant every day!! ;D I used to get that from my old work colleagues - "when are you getting a proper car" and all that curse word. I just tell them that I actually own my car whereas they'll still be paying for theirs long after the new car smell has gone

I just tell them that I actually own my car whereas they'll still be paying for theirs long after the new car smell has gone I used to work with a bunch of guys who were just the same. They used to rip it out of my old Mk2 Astra estate, which had cost me £250. They stopped laughing when it lasted me a year for the same price they were paying every month on their cacky new stuff. And they couldn't "off-road" their cars in the same way for fear of breaking them!

I'm still here, just been really busy. How much time I spend on forums is inversely proportional to how much email I get and how much work I have to do I've been selling some stuff on ebay so I've been getting a lot more email than usual and often by the time I've dealt with that each day I can't be arsed to post on forums. Being on dial up doesn't help cause everything is soooo sloooow.

I'm back!!!! ;D ;D ;D sorry cornfed and dminifreak, I was abducted by aliens whilst working under my fiances mini (they quized me on how we earthlings managed to fit so much space into such a little package! and I had to explain to them that it wasn't a tardis just an old car and that yes it was a compact design but that just made it an absolute to get to things ;D ;D) Actualy I had to move house at short notice and didn't have the internet for ages (I've been having a quick look at work though but hadn't signed in for a while) then I changed to shift work and I've been working on the fiances mini as well, just been really busy lately. hopefully I 'll make up for it by posting some more stuff soon.
