Over a year has gone by so where are we?
Jim got driven, he was in daily use and I loved it.
Parked him up at the Burton Car Meet last April
Just generally jumping at every photo opportunity
I did butcher an Austin badge to make something more apt to my car
I fitted an ebay special rev counter and was given a tape deck that suited the age of the car but turns out only the radio works!
I like power stations. This is Willington Power Station, fully decommissioned in '99. I see it daily, a proper local landmark but turns out it's set for demolition this year.
Who doesn't feel the urge to park next other classic and retros?
My wife got her new MINI Cooper last year, she's bloody chuffed and I actually quite like driving it. Can't believe how small it makes my Maestro look though!
And then just quite simply.. BALLS!
Dreaded electrical problems again though this time by fault of my own, I fried the dizzy and so a rookie lesson learnt. Don't clean your engine bay with wd40!
Thing is while he was working it was all good, I had no worries on that front. Behind the scenes since returning from our honeymoon 16 months ago we found out my wife was seriously ill.
I was driving Jim to the hospital everyday until our good friends bought us an absolute trooper of a mk2 Mondeo and I shared the driving between them, so once Jim broke down it was two times too many and without question he'd have to wait his turn till my wife recovered.
I decided that when I get round to it I want more power so as and when I had time I started pulling him apart and is now sat on the drive looking like this till I lift the A series out. I can't afford to spend money on the little beast for a while but if pulling it apart is a step forward I'm happy.
I know it's a car forum so I apologise but as for my beautiful wife, you simply couldn't write our last 16 months and I hope no one would mind but my brother in law is running the London Marathon inspired by my wife
2018-london-marathon.everydayhero.com/uk/15-04-91 and if anyone would like to help raise money that would be amazing.
But it is a car page and Maestro updates will be slow but I may find time to get the A series out and tidy the bay. I've got big plans that seem so far away but it'll be worth it.
