172k Miles, which is nothing for a big Mercedes AMG V8.
100% Reliable - always starts first time. I have been using it on a daily 100 mile commute to Hemel Hempstead, and it has never missed a beat (just drank a bit of fuel!).
No overheating – I use the M25 for my commute which is a car park in the morning, and the needle never moves from the half way point. No oil or coolant leaks.
Brakes and suspension seem good, with no knocks or bangs.
Recent new stainless straight through pipes fitted and secondary Cats removed due to blow. It now sounds like a true muscle car, and how an E55 should sound from the factory. Even starting her up in the morning brings a smile to your face!
A proper wolf in sheep’s clothing and a true super saloon. Happy enough pottering around town at 30mph, cruising at 70mph on the motorway or lighting up its rear tyres on twisty back roads. That AMG growl is truly addictive.
I’ve had some fun with this in my ownership, and upset a few cars (including a brand new Golf R). This is my first E55, and I am very pleased with the overall package.
Fuel economy: It’s an E55 AMG – if you want economy, then go and buy an A Class diesel! However, on a run, I have seen 28mpg, which is as good as it gets for a 354 bhp super saloon.
The 18" AMG Monoblocks were recently refurbished prior to my purchase, and are in excellent order. Fitted with good tyres all round. These alone sell for well over £1k in this condition.
Smooth and quiet ride, which makes motorway journeys a total breeze.
The bodywork is what lets this down, hence the low price: Front wings are rotten and need replacing, rear arches are corroding and need repair, there are various marks, blemishes and rust blisters on the bodywork (see photos). OSF wing is the worst part. A typical W210 of this era. It is structurally solid, mechanically sound and perfectly useable as is. Cleans up well and still a presentable car (from a distance!).
Interior is in very good condition, with no rips or tears. The driver’s seat has the usual wear, but nothing to shout home about. The leather in this is Nappa, which has a better quality feel to it compared to the standard leather trim. It feels softer, yet more robust in terms of wear and tear. A few marks on front passenger door card, but nothing which can’t be easily rectified.
Everything works as it should. There are no warning lights on the dash, and all lights disappear as soon as the car is started.
Not a brand new car, but still a decent example for this money and mileage. Please be realistic with you expectations - It's a 15 year old W210 with average miles, it isn’t going to be mint.. If you want a brand E Class AMG, go to your local Mercedes dealership and pay over £70k for it!
Get the bodywork sorted, and this is a £4.5k+ car. Also, these are only going up in value now, so it could even be a future investment.
Very practical and solid. Only for sale as I have too many toys now and no room to store them all, so this has to go (along with my XJR and E32 7 Series).
Sold as seen. No warranty is given and / or implied. The car has been described honestly and to the best of my ability. Any inspection / viewing is welcome and highly encouraged, as everyone’s opinion of an old car will differ.
