It pains me to sell this but I just cant see keeping it viable, this was my late grandfathers car, it was laid up since around 99 and 2 years ago me and my father managed to get it out the barn and get it to the garage at the top of my grandmothers, the hard part is that my father passed away suddenly in January, and although I know he had a massive amount of love for this car, his intentions were to get it on the road and then sell it as its just too big to keep in a normal sized garage.
The car currently doesnt run or drive, the carbs were removed to be rebuilt and have been rebuilt professionally, they need refitting. The car ran with the old carbs but the rear carb's jet was seized solid, this has now been rectified so with the carbs re-attached it should run nicely.
The reason it was laid up is that the brakes would mysteriously dissapear over time, it would lose brake fluid but leave no puddle behind, I'm going to guess that the master cylinder is leaking it into the servo and then pulling it through the engine hence no visible leaks. This will need addressing prior to using on the road
The car is very solid, but unfortunatly is covered in small patches of surface rust from where the workshop roof leaked onto it and damaged the paint, underneath is solid apart from 4 small patches, 2 bits under sill between doors and rears of sills have corrosion, very easy fix and with skill wont affect much of the surrounding area, will most likely be repairing this myself.
It comes with a set of spare rear drums, a set of spare wheels with tyres (of what condition I don't know) and a box full of VDP spares.
This is a 4ltr R, so has the rolls royce 4 litre side exhaust (or inlet?) engine, when it was running (on one carb admittedly) it sounded sweet as a nut.
It has powersteering (onto a steering box akin to a landrover), and one of the most luxurious interiors going, I remember as a kid being picked up in it by my dad with my grandpa riding shotgun, it went well for what it was as they have around 170-180bhp from memory.
These pictures are probably around a year old, the car has been in a heated garage since and hasnt decayed any further to my knowledge, I will try and get the energy to pull the car out the workshop but its hard work as its not exactly the lightest of cars to be pushing by yourself.
Have got a bunch of photos pre-cleaning and post-cleaning -
This could be the perfect future wedding car, or if you just feel like a bit of cheap luxury.
Ive priced it at what I think its worth, I havent seen one for sale for god-knows how long so am open to reasonable offers. That doesnt mean i'll take a packet of peanut M&M's for it.
swaps or p/x (cash either way) wise I like old Japanese RWD tin, celica's, silvia's, sigma's, or classic british RWD ready to go (mgb gt etc), something that will fit in a normal sized garage, or motorbikes. Wouldnt say no to something camper like either, wether it be already converted or a decent van ready to be converted...
