Stop keeping us in Suspenders JB. We have a 9lb turd here for you. Well,if you weren't off chasing squirrel,I would have collected this weekend.... And can we assume that what all the fashionable weekend squirrel chasers are wearing this season are Ann Summers; Bow Backed Opaque Over the Knee socks - in Small/Medium? With stylish black high-heels, of course.

Not car related. But just to show it can be done... somewhere in these pages of drivel is a comment giving me a slight bollocking for, cheating and buying suspension bushes. Well, they were available so I bought them. But what if your retro project weighs 56t, and bushes not available ? You make them of course! So, this is what it looks like This is what it looks like when stripped naked.... Add two parts preturned steel sleeves, lightly plated. Add one part uncured, natural rubber,75 shore. Add 100t pressure Add one hundred degrees C heat Cook for 20 minutes Repeat 23 times and you are left with this A whole box of Rubber Johnny's....

Once again exelent job they are a thing of beauty.
As no one makes acclaim poly bushes I'm going to attempt to cast bushes for mine, infact making the dies is one of the jobs i bought my 1936 Drummond M type lathe for, any tips would be very usefull Johnny, i guess the high pressure and temps were required as thease were natural rubber. Cheers Dan

Can't you just for once put up a really crappy job to stop us all feeling jealous of what you get paid to do something like laying on your back in 2 ft of mud, in the rain, trying to weld the snapped chassis back together on a ZIL 157 or something as equally desirable.... Those bushes look the business, just out of interest what was the time involved in making those from start to finish including machining up the moulds?

Messed around designing the tool for a couple of hours over a couple of days. The tooling was done in a day. Sleeves inner and outer a couple of hours. Then off to platers. No rush there,so got them back the following week. Actual time the tool was in the heated press, about two days. Cycle time about 30 minutes per bush. About a month in total from start to finish,as it wasn't urgent, and slotted it in as an when I had time. A lot of money to make 24 bushes. But hey, it's worth a couple of million,so a drop in the ocean really

You need to look into vacuum degassing......

You,continue to impress, amaze and more importantly to ENTERTAIN !!
For many of us mere mortals, that is the most important part.
I wonder if the guys you work for really have any idea just how good you are at problem solving.
I will be here next Saturday for you to collect the pump and have a cuppa.

I'm just not going to be happy unless I can have my name cast into my suspension bushes now. You've set me off lusting after something I don't need and probably can't have. Again... Interestingly georgeb 's panhard rod bushes have his name written in them. Well they would have if he'd just change his name to 'Pirelli'. (That's going to confuse people who haven't been reading his thread - but since everybody reads his threads we're ok!) James

Last time I suggested that he for once just said - curse word that'll do - he told me 9-5 M-F It's clear @johnnybravo has only one std - "top drawer"
