The flywheel does not turn the wrong way - the engine runs counter with a gear wheel on the crank that runs another gear wheel that is on the the fly/clutch that turns clockwise. The other gear 1:1 allows the COG to be corrected by moving the fly off the crank CL so it can be balanced in the bike frame. Popular conversion for Hillman Imps - Ginetta G15 - Clan Crusader - and now going into the front of Sprites etc. Clarke on Facebook has a conversions page for the Imps and such www.facebook.com/groups/311116875932691/ They also take a bit of boost so about 130BHP from the stock 1200 and 250 when boosted. Place that does full engine kits out of wrecks for £500-600 on a pallet for conversions. Looked at this option for the G15 a few years ago but too busy with other things to progress it and I have now decided to stick with the stock lump.

Yeah, like Darkspeed said, Engine turns backwards onto a geardriven shaft that turns the right way. The clutch bolts to that. I mated it to a Hewland Mk9, but I had to turn that upside down because the diff would be in the way of the alternator and the starter. So I still had to flip the diff to compensate for that.

So. A plan. I only need to commute about 7 minutes to work. That's Shitroen minutes,so normal / faster car would make that 4 minutes. Need something fun. Something small. Something different. Started looking. Just saying.. I had an old postie bike in Oxford. Used to ride it to work, 10 miles each way. Very chilled, had a huge luggage rack, would arrive at work before others from my village because they would sit in the traffic into Oxford every day like muppets. Money saved in so many ways went into cars that Id enjoy driving on clear roads!

I had one of those that I used in Oxford and London. Replaced it with a tandem that you could remove the rear seat and fit another rack... making it bob on for carrying steps and tools!

Money saved in so many ways went into cars that Id enjoy driving on clear roads! It's a nice windy road all downhill to work, with some nice blind corners. I enjoy my life. I enjoy the ability to walk. With the muppets on the road around here,it wouldn't be a case of if,it would be a case of when somebody decides I would make a rather stunning bonnet emblem, and smears me all over the road...😡 Seen too many near misses along there already involving cyclists...Would be safer to cycle on the M25,as the traffic hardly moves on there...😂

Speaking of the M25 parking lot,I spent a couple of hours on it yesterday.......Down to Crediton to fetch a one careful owner, never been raced or rallied piaggio ape in British racing Green. 520 mile round trip has it safely in the garage. What I forgot to mention, was, the previous owner had lost the keys. Must have fallen out the window whilst he was driving along. Anyway,a friendly fireman got him out of his predicament.... The people that seem to have these for sale seem to think they have some sort of unobtanium, worth more than a gold/ platinum alloy 🙄 All seem to be imported from Italy, with the guys That bring them into the country ,too lazy to even get a v5 sorted. So in that vain,I can also do the same, have a good friend in Italy looking at one on Sunday. His next door neighbour has a haulage company that travels to the Uk once a week,so transport cost negligible. Means I can get a good one for less than half the price of what they go for here 😊 In the meantime the bitsa one will help me work out the chassis and roll cage Engine donor due to be delivered on Monday. New build thread in " Readers other modifications " imminent 😊

Typically bonkers Stevie, funnily I was driving thru St Leonards the other day and saw the blinged TukTuk outside the Thai restaurant in Bohemia, Having been driven about in Bangkok in a few, think they are fun, not sure sure how much fun in the winter on my commute round the M25, 240 miles a day would kill it...... or kill me,

Johnny I like the new secondary projects but how is the Mazda going any progress on that? It's at the stage where I need to make the boot floor and then start cutting off rear quarter panels ,make new bits to replace all the rot behind the quarter panels and then stick it back together. There is method to my madness, believe it or not. I always battle doing anything in winter. Plan is the three wheeler is to try and break that cycle. But,more importantly,I need to get into panelbeating, welding etc. Also need to get the hang of the beadroller and finish the pullmax. I figured this would be a good way to get my eye in,then go onto the Mazda once my confidence with panel making, replacement and welding in,is there. Still talking to a guy in Holland about the last body panels I need for the Mazda, but it's a very slow process 😊

Cool... So are you going to mate the flying brick to a car transaxle ( imp or VW, ...)? Or will you put a diff behind the bike gearbox ?( I believe the K1200LT version has reverse )

The K1200lt does indeed have an electric reverse gear. The starter motor has a pinion on either end. One side spins the sprag clutch to start the engine, the other side provides reverse when the gear knob on the side is turned and a button pressed. Unfortunately these gearboxes are hard to find without paying stupid money 🙁
So,will sort out my own electric reverse. Will be using the bike gearbox with a diff behind it,then at least its sequential 😊

I love it... The country that pretty much invented the roundabout seems like it would be the natural environment for a motorcycle powered drifting Ape. I hope there will be some Youtube vids of it when its done...
