I wonder if JB sends his CV to potential employers in G code instead of a word doc like the rest of us.
Lets hope he does not get all crossed up in the thread and end up with RX2 Half track!

I take it those are brand new forged ? parts then ? How much do you reckon that must cost as they look bloody well made to start with ! All new castings made from patterns. You don't want to know what it costs, suffice to say the end customer of that particular vehicle is a Royal...Unfortunately i am not at liberty to say what country. I am having patterns made for the track links on the Panther at the moment, you looking in the £8-10k region for the patterns to cast two at a time...... Got a sample piece of original track going on the spectrograph to be sparked,so I can find out what material it is. The Germans used to use a material called Niresit for their tracks. Have not been able to find out much about it,hence getting a sample sparked so we can find out its composition. Metallurgy moved on vastly in the last 75 years,so will land up getting it cast in a grade of SG with similar properties. Had this brandnew ,secondhand ,never been raced or rallied, link flown out from Australia. Getting it 3D scanned. Then will develop a 3D core from that. The patten maker can then 3D mill the cores. Each link will consist of five cores from what I can see. Will cast two parts at a time,so the foundry should be able to make ten links a day. Because I don't know the exact composition of the material yet,I haven't got a price for the links yet. If I had to hazard a guess,I would say probably about £300 each. A bargain seeing I only need 200 ....😂 Wow , impressive ! Never heard of a spectrograph , luckily i have access to a PMI gun , one zap of that and it gives me the closest material match and chemical composition ! Bloody good bit of kit but 15k , although its earnt that in a year testing material at £50 a pop !

Have a feeling it's a slang term. Think correct term is EDS, Energy -dispersive X-ray spectroscopy...Me? I say nuke it....😂😂😂

Have you made things for Bruce Crompton? Yep. Have done loads of stuff for him over the last 7-8 years. The twins work for him and that's who I always work with. Even though I had been doing all his work for the last 7-8 years,I only met him about two years ago,as he is a very busy man with other business ventures,so he leaves the tank stuff to the twins. It always worked well like that...😊

Gotta be careful working for yourself. HR doesn't listen when you complain about the boss touching you.

If it can be fixed with a hammer, then it must be an electrical fault

Rust is lighter than Carbon Fibre which is why old Fords are so fast.

Another little update. Something seen about as often as a Mazda in this thread, that some of you might enjoy. Those of you who have read some of this thread may remember the Road trip around South Africa getting spares. Well... Many years ago I was an apprentice, and the workshop had previously been a furniture factory. It had a couple of redundant dust extractors still built in the back wall, that had not been bricked up. I heard a meowing sound for about three days, getting fainter every day. Eventually found the tiniest ,dehydrated ,3/4 dead kitten embedded between the drum and the casing. So, out came the anglegrinder to put him out of his misery. Messy business as Cats and anglegrinders don't really mix. Not like Cats and Jackhammers... Anyway, little guy survived having the metalwork cut out around him and he got taken home and called Lucky. Lucky he didn't land up as a pie...He turned out to be the most Garfield like cat you could imagine, used to sit behind the door and ambush the dogs. We were blessed to have him in our family for 17 years, which I think is a pretty good age. When we emigrated back to the Uk,he went down to the farm, to Mom and Dad,and that's where he saw out his days. He loved going up to the garage to keep a check on the mice... Anyway, times move on and Nature takes over. This is now the mice population officer who lives in the tree behind the cottage, that is just behind the garage.Totally unfazed with Mom and Dad being about...😊
