Right chaps,
Bit of a dilemma at the moment, my dad is hopefully downsizing from his large 3 bed semi to a ground floor flat later in the year. So today I popped in and realised how much stuff I left there when I moved out lol. I seem to have about 32 years worth of hoarding to sort and it's making me panic a bit lol
This leaves me with an awful lot of stuff to put in the loft, I also have a garage that is 50% full of vintage tools I inherited & don't have any use for & some of the stuff I have no idea what it is or does. As well as all that I have quite a lot of car parts sat in a mates mums garage...
As a lot of the stuff is no longer really any use (to me)/wanted, it makes sense to sell it as there could be a couple of grands worth of stuff.
Currently I don't know what I have got, I first need to get it all home, sort through everything, chuck the junk, pack the important stuff & itemize the stuff to sell.
How do you guys sell your stuff? Do you group things/sell it all individualy.
I have ebay, listing this much stuff will take ages & the local car boot's are poo.
- mods, feel free to delete this thread if it's in the wrong place/not applicable to RR

I feel your pain buddy, I moved out years ago, and six months ago I finally got round to shifting my junk. It took forever, but stuff like magazines I filled the bed of my P100, took a photo and listed them as a job lot. The guy that bought them showed up in a Punto to collect them all, man that thing was low after he filled it with magazines. As for the rest, some got sold to friends, some went in a car boot sale, some went on fleabay, some went to the dump, and some is still in the loft to await processing!

A couple of steps might help whittle the task down a bit.
Firstly, sort out what's junk (if any) and what's not)
Secondly, sort out anything that isn't junk but isn't worth any money either. Freegle is a great place to get rid of stuff straight into the hands of people who will actually appreciate and make use of it.
The remainder, and bearing in mind it's boot sale season, you can sell as "job lot" on ebay, still a bit of a drag but if you list with "Buy Now or Best Offer" you can make sure things don't sell for 99p.
Alternatively, there are a lot of auction houses / house clearance companies that will come and bid you on the whole lot. Easy solution, but probably the least money.
hth.

Thanks chaps, glad its not just me, Mrs was not impressed when I rocked up home and dumped it all on the kitchen table. Luckily I dumped all my mags when I moved about as I couldnt give them away, 10 years worth of max power/revs/redline & I think some custom car mags, took 3 trips lol. Think I still have some stuff in my mums loft too lol. I think this is going to take me a while. Some stuff would be suited to the car boot job lot idea, good idea! This was the 1st boot full, most of this is being kept though as I now have a large garden lol

Gumtree seems to be a good place these days as an alternative to eBay.

Gumtree. Preloved Ebay gets best coverage but fees are expensive. Tools, www.homeworkshop.org.uk/ has a good ads page. I only take junk to the car boot as no one wants to pay more than a couple of quid for anything Its good to down size as I used to find you spent ages looking for stuff and moving stuff, so I had a massive clear out and I am still at it, I now only buy what I really need

It will come in handy even if you never use it

I've not found an easy way but stuff that works for me... Start now - it's much harder once you are short of time. Do *not* move stuff into storage at your new place to sort out "later" (or you've just moved the problem and postponed the cleanup) Take a car-load to yours, sort it into 3 (or 4) heaps : Rubbish/Tat/Junk - take this to the tip ASAP to make it easier to sort out the rest. too-good-for-bin-but-not-wanted (low value and/or bulky) - charity shop / freegle(freecycle) etc decent but not wanted - sell it! - ebay 99p start (list it Thursday eve for 10 days so it ends Sunday eve), or Gumtree etc... - valuable stuff - I'm still finding out the best way for this... stuff to keep - is all yours Good luck!

Thanks chaps, showed MrsM pics of the stuff, she didn't understand why I wanted to sell some of it & I should save it for our little un. Tried pointing out that I purposely didn't play with this stuff when I was a kid and it wasn't suited to a 1 year old, that went down well... lol I did try to point out that this was only 1 of the boxes.

I remember those petrol station cars think I had the set too!
Regarding tools, if you have any old handsaws (wooden handle types) I might be interested in them for painting up etc

Just going to bump this, as I have just realised how many old tools I have.
It looks like 5/6 tool boxes worth of vintage tools, duno what there is though, some of them would have been my great uncles, dads tools I think he served in WW1 & WW2, if not WW1 he was a teenager at that time lol.
Where do you shift this stuff?

Hi,
My dad does a lot with wood working that kind of thing, loves his "old tools". Get a couple of pics and PM me, maybe post them up here and see if people might be interested too.
