not may people get their illustration work in a major magazine at like 17s year old. Nor so much favourable response that its the centrepiece of a Primedia-backed campaign to GM to actually build it and then demo your own car at SEMA a couple of years later... He's draw up your projectin 3D to virtualise it before you build it. a few builders are using him now. Cool way to make money www.carsbykris.com/Some groovy stuff. Wish I could do that

Lovely job. i wouldn't have the foggiest where to start, although I'm pretty handy with a pencil and a nice detailed drawing can work just as well.

I think the thing which impresses me most is how in like 3 years he's come from nowhere to become a household name in a scene which one always suspects you have to "Know the right people" to get any recognition. I believe Trepanier and Foose have used him to produce concept pics for clients before hacking the car. Not a bad way to start yuour career off huh

He's very talented in fairness to him, all his concepts are so realistic looking too and as you say - not a million miles off the real thing......funny that GM reckon they came up with the concept themselves.........

Yeah but let's be honest here, cars are fairly generic, moreso of late than previous and when your styling cues are a 68/69 Camaro of course you're going to end up similar.

pretty cool what you can do with new computer packages now hey! cant tell what he has used for those, but you can use stuff like solidworks, where you can make a car like that and actually have it fully 3d so you can sit there and rotate it to check out every angle, open and close doors etc, sorta like a 3dcad on steroids, take the finished file across to somethign like 3d Studio Max and you end up with renderings like that.

more time consuming then anything, 3dS is like creating a virtual reality, you import the model that you made of the car or whatever, choose finishes (rubber, paint, tinted glass etc) for the surfaces, setup a floor, lighting, sun if you want it and the program calculates all of the reflections, colour graduations etc to give a close to photo-realistic finish. also need an insanely good computer once you get onto somethign like a car, but once you get aquainted with the software it is amazing what you can do.

Aye, I used to work with peole who did this sort of stuff, but not with cars. I had a bash at making stuff but TBH I struggled to do a cube let alone a car.
