So I'm putting the Cav up for sale - I've owned this car longer than any other (bar the Capris) and for good reason. It's been an absolute trooper, and if I'm honest, a joy to own. It'll join the Cortina, 200sx, Mazda 1300 and Supra in the list of cars i miss and wish i hadn't sold!
I think it's approaching around a 18 months I've owned it, in that time I've made a lot of improvement and done a lot of miles - around 10000 i think! Here is a list of the work I've done in the time I've owned it.
Full service (twice) including:
Plugs
leads
Condensor
Dizzy cap
rotor arm
points
coil
oil
oil filter
New alternator
new radiator
4 new lowering springs (not chopped)
bump stops modified to give good travel
uprated Gmax rear Mini shocks (on the front) handles like it's on rails but rides like a cloud!
Brand new Weber 32/36 conversion with free flow chrome filter
Manual choke conversion
Custom cherry bomb exhaust
Black and silver plates
The previous owner fitted a nice pair of Recaro seats up front and a set of Minilite style alloys that it sits on very nicely.
The paint polishes up very nicely but it definitely has some patina to it! The front wings are the wrong shade and have some scratches and scabs on, the floor has been welded up in the past but is nice and solid. The bottom of the doors and rear arches are starting to get a little rusty and the front of the front wings as they join the valance are a little frilly too.
That being said - this is a 37 year old classic car that can be used every day, all day! I used this daily for a 40 mile round commute and it didn't miss a beat (apart from a cheap condensor breaking down). Ive used it every day until around a month ago when the capri passed it's MoT.
here it is on the OLD chopped springs (which i still have if you'd like to refit them - personally i wouldn't, as it's so much better on the proper springs. It'd take a couple of hours to get this low if you fancied).
It has a cooler looking and sounding exhaust now albiet with a bodged up hole in the middle but I'd doing the trick!
Pulls a bit if you prod the brakes sharply. Won't come with a stereo or speakers.
Current height on new springs:
Insurance is £100 a year!
I'm after £1600 ono for it. Probably best to send me a PM if you're interested But feel free to post on here i will be genuinely sad to see it go but 3 cars seems bit silly!
