Daft question, have you checked the fluid level on the box? There's no dipstick but a bit of curtain wire will do. They weep from the connector bush and are really touchy about fluid level (too much pushes a little float up and puts it into limp home mode as well). There's a good chance this'll have the kind of setup where the fluid change is easy, too, with a torque convertor drain.

Thanks @richardkc6 good to know that it could be an easy fix for someone. I also have an OM602 mechanical pump available if anyone looking to go superturbodiesel. ah man I have to say I am very tempted by this. would be ideal to throw the dogs in the back and still have some poke. Whats involved with fitting these OM606 pumps?

That is some serious acceleration from the OM606 Super Turbo.
Some people have transplanted the engines into a 190 - now that would be entertaining!

The OM605 (5 cyl) and OM606 (6cyl) engines have electronic controlled injection pumps. The electronic pumps can be tuned up to a point, like the electronic IP in this car has. The car is pokey as it is. For far greater BHP you need to fit a mechanical pump from the earlier OM602 (5 cyl) or OM603 (6cyl). These are a bolt on fitment. i.e. the mechanical pump will bolt up in place of the electronic pump. The tuning itself comes from the modification of the IP, fitting bigger elements amongst other things. There's loads of info on superturbodiesel.com The dogs would most certainly be thrown in the back! ah man I have to say I am very tempted by this. would be ideal to throw the dogs in the back and still have some poke.
