It's time to sell my Rover P6. It's something I don't really want to do, but needs must so here it is. I've owned a few P6 Rovers and they were my first car but until recently I'd never driven one on the road. When I saw this I had to have it and it was absolutely the right decision, its awesome.
The car. It's a 1970 Rover P6B V8, so tax exempt and allowed to use the silver and black plates. Its also a good model to have as it's the high compression V8 at 10.5:1
This one runs well, starts well from cold with no odd noises or smoke, comes off choke quickly, sounds as it should and pulls very well. You'll have no trouble keeping up with modern traffic. The gearbox kicks down well, and changes gear smoothly. It sometimes holds second longer than I'd like when it's cold but I'm probably being picky. The cooling system has just been overhauled with a recon radiator, flushed cooling system and new hoses and thermostat, it runs nice and cool now even in traffic.
The interior is a lovely place to be and wears its patina well. Some slight wear to the black leather seats but nothing thats really noticable and its comfy and dry with no leaks into the cabin. The drivers carpet is worn but all the others are good. Electrically everything works on the car both inside and out, apart from one of the interior lights, which blew a bulb yesterday (I'll fix that) Windows including all four quarter lights work well.
P6's are know for their base until rust. This one isn't. Its solid as a rock underneath with all the usual spots good, D-posts, inner sills, box sections under the seats, front hockey sticks etc....fine. The exterior has had a respray at some point in a lighter shade than the original Almond but it loos fine, not a show winner but a good honest usable example. The only rust is on the bottoms of the rear doors and one front wing. (I have a replacement wing) There are a few small dent's and scratches here and there but its an old car that gets used daily, not a trailer queen!
Suspension and brakes are good, the front NS ball joint will want doing soon as it's just started to get a bit noisy. Nothing to worry about yet though.
I hope this gives an accurate representation of the car, I've tried to be as honest as possible and probably made it sound worse than it is...i just want a good home for it and someone to be as happy with i as I am.
Its MOT'D for 11 months,I have a box full of spares that will go with it and its ready to drive. Any questions please ask.
I'm in Chesterfield, Derbyshire if anyone wants to view.
