methanol supports much higher compressin ratios as well as having a lower calorific vlaue than petrol. So carbs to run methanol are usually metered completely differently, to the point that its not just a case of changing jets. Know a couple of people have tried.
So you will need to change the carb and the compression ratio which may mean new head(s) or new pistons.
valve timing may well be different too. I've seen "methanol cams" before but that could just be marketting.

I wouldn't assume anything.
If you can buy enough methanol to get where you are going and back again...
My only worry would be that if its built to run alky it will be a race engine, which means it may not be exactly a comfortable and relaxing rid e on the street... narrow powerband, overheating, that sort of thing

well, it wont have to sit in traffic ;D
Would make a super sweet stop light racer!
Been toying with the idea of building a bobber for years. To be honest, I wont buy this one, but it sure is tempting.
Maybe I should stick with petrol.
Then again......................
How much is meth?

If running methanol you wont have any issues with overheating, I know of a turbocharged drag car that after a full power 1/4 mile run by the time he's back to the pits the heads are cool enough to to work on! Its street legal to run and after paying duty on it i think its roughly £1.30 litre.

Biggest issue is that it destoys oil, not a problem for Sprinters/Drag biges when they change it after every run, but gets expensive if you are doing it on the street On the plus side - Alky and Castrol R is THE best smell in the world ;D

Its more or less impossible to run on the street for much mileage. As CR500Dom says it destroys oil. Unless you can completely seal the combustion chamber from the sump (virtually impossible) the methanol will get through. It also washes the oil off the bores which means rapid bore wear. The jets you'll need in the carb are massive. I've got an alky carb off a big block ford, and the jets are huuuuuuuuuuge

I ran my bike on paint thinners for a bit, roughly the same calorific value as methanol and 110 octane or something. Ran ok, a little lean and bloody stank. Was really noxious smelling, like made you gag uncontrollably but at 30p per litre when petrol was up there near £1 per litre I was broke and I didn't care.
