You can't ask, or even answer the question "Is something retro yet?" as it is not an age critical criteria. There is no set period where something becomes 'retro', it doesn't fit into a category between modern and classic. By definition, 'retro' is something styled to mimic fashion or trend from the recent past. A brand new car can be retro with the right styling and modifications. Applied to this community, retro is an ethos, not an age limit. Applied to what this community seems to be these days, retro is a price limit not an age limit....

The styling of the Probe has never sat comfortably with me. I preferred the styling on the Cougar (seen one of those lately), though still not exactly my cup of tea, but the Mundaneo underpinnings seems to have scuppered that one with the general public.

I quite that green one Rmad posted. I think I will have to put one of these on the "to buy" list, with a "must be v6" caveat. Not too keen on the Mazda MX6 that got mentioned, the popup headlights* make it a lot better.
*A friend of mine calls them "secret headlights" which I think is a far cooler term.

Some of these have well and truly reversed my opinion on them (it was bad)
I particularly like the paler colour with a dark roof, really enhances the lines

By definition, 'retro' is something styled to mimic fashion or trend from the recent past. A brand new car can be retro with the right styling and modifications. Applied to this community, retro is an ethos, not an age limit. Well obviously if it was a clear-cut age-related thing I wouldn't ask cos it would be obvious. It's an opinion thing, and that's what I was seeking. The "yet" does apply, because styles change, and cars age. This car imo, is a good example of that - it was pretty unpopular (iirc) at the time but now it has matured. From what we've seen in this thread, it does appeal to a proportion of the RR crowd. I didn't know that at the time, now I do. Maybe I should have been more descriptive about that, but I didn't feel it mattered much - this is a forum not the EHCR, opinions are offered as par for the course (and usually welcomed) whether you ask for them or not*! *forums in general, not a critique of RR

my old man had a light metallic blue one for a year or two (early 2000s I guess) - I never paid much attention to it tbh but it is one of those cars that I can really appreciate now I haven't seen one for some time!

The more I come back to this thread the more I want to see one in a Salt Flat Racer / Mooneyes style. Satin yellow with a white roof, lowered, skinny wheels with moon discs tucked in the arches. Smooth the shape a bit (to be fair it's pretty uncluttered as it is) and it could be a winner. In fact this seems like such a winning concept that I'm sure I must have seen it done already, but I can't find a pic.
