I have been in two minds about selling this car, but I have decided that I shall get rid. It was initially bought as a winter smoker and so it shall leave me as intended.

So, back to business.
This car was bought as a winter runabout. Now that it has served its purposed it is time to move on. So what about this car?
History
This car is a 3 owner car (the previous owner being a friend of mine) where the first owner owned it until 2009. As a result it has plenty of paperwork up until that point. From what I can tell it was serviced at BMW until 70,000 miles and then a local London Indy. In that time things like the brake pipes, calipers and so on were changed. As of now the discs, pads, and braking system are great.
How about Now?
Fast forward to 2014 my friend bought this car as a track day tool. Like most plans this never materialised but he did take out a number of large jobs, ensuring that this should be a reliable E36. These jobs included:
Engine:
Full service
New LUK clutch fitted (only 5,000 miles on the clutch)
Suspension:
New lower arms with Powerflex poly lollypop bushes (a common failing point on E36s and E46s).
New genuine 850i Top mounts up front
Koni springs and dampers all round
Rear Trailing arm bushes changed for PowerFlex Black items
Brakes:
Fluid changed to DOT 5.1
Bodywork
General paintup here and here
As you can see he did go to town on it a little and at quite an expense! During my ownership I have simply:
Changed the thermostat (for a genuine BMW item)
New rad cap (as above)
Serviced it.
Fitted 4 Continental tyres all round
As a result it does drive very well, with none of the wallowyness and waywardness than you would expect from a car of this age. it is a joy to drive down backroads.
The car is in great condition. The interior is in good shape and the outside is surprisingly rust free for an E36 of this vintage. No rusty wings, bootlids or wheelarches to see here! Even the tester commented on how clean it was! Furthermore the Climate control unit works very well with the AC also working on the car. On long trips it is a great place to be being relatively quiet and swift with it seeming to average 30MPG around town and a little more on a run!
Are there issues? Being a 17 year old car, there are. These include:
-The central locking not working
-a small hole in the lower outer driver's seat bolster (this car has Sports seats).
-Wheels are slightly kerbed.
-Some very minor scratches around the car
-Front driver's wing has had an overzealous polisher on it once upon a time ; some of the old pain is showing as a result in one place.
All in all if you wish to have a tidy looking E36 which is a reliable car not really requiring much this is the car for you.
