Here is my XM. The bad points: The car needs a new lock set - I broke the ignition switch when I got it (screw fell off the sunroof motor and landed on the lighting track, and then burnt the connector on the ignition switch), and then broke the key, but have replaced the ignition barrel with a Xantia one, and the doorlock with an XM one. The Xantia barrel was faulty on the final starter switch (typical), so I wired a push button. This works fine and starts fine everytime. You need the key in to use the button. It has a dent behind the driver's side rear door. The rear spheres are getting a bit tired. It had new front spheres, head gasket/pump/belt recently, the interior is tidy and the car is very reliable. Everything works electrically and it's very nice to drive, I've done over 2000 trouble free miles in over a month. I've just replaced the glow plugs. The car goes up and down fine on the adjustment lever. It can run on vegetable oil. The previous seller is sending me a complete lockset once he breaks the final bits on his other car. It is MOT'd til July 2015 and is taxed so you can drive it home. I have too many cars again and a few need to be sold. Offer very close to 500. Car is currently in Leamington Spa, but can take up to Wirral. I know this is like a red rag to some of you but Genuine interest only.

I'm very tempted again. Reckon there'd be access from behind to knock that dent out?

It's no longer broken - the ignition switch was burnt out due to a screw from the sunroof motor unscrewing over the space of 20 years and falling on the interior light track and burning out the switch (the largest point on the whole circuit is the pin on the switch, obv drawing all the current and burning out the small glass ball that holds the switch open). I have been driving it for the past month no problems. Yes, I've had a peer and there's room. The knock isn't too bad tbh. ChasR on here said 'it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be' when he saw it the other day.

Billion miles on the clock?
Service history? Namely cambelt been done any time in the last 20 years?
I think I already know the answer, but does it have air-con?

ChasR on here said 'it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be' when he saw it the other day. Indeed I did. Pending the sale of my car I am very tempted to buy this even though I am in the market for an estate (as you know). Billion miles on the clock? Service history? Namely cambelt been done any time in the last 20 years? I think I already know the answer, but does it have air-con? To answer your questions (I hope David doesn't mind): -No, the car has done around 157k. The engine seems to run well as does the ride seem OK. The brakes all or nothing but from what I can tell that is a hydropneumatic brake trait where there is literally no feel (I have previously driven a Citroen DS21). -I believe he mentioned that the cambelt has been changed quite recently. -It did come with some paperwork but I do not recall it having AC. As a bonus almost everything electrical seems to work (or at least everything I tried (David will tell you that I tried most things inside the car!). Have yourself a free bump. Bar a couple of very minor issues (headlining being very slightly loose ahead of the visor and the dent as mentioned) it is as good as described IMHO with a relatively tidy interior and a straight drive. Can you do better for £500 in all honesty?

OK, so yes, I'm very tempted. Is the car still in Leamington Spa?

Thanks Chas.
Car has a lot of history/receipts. Unfortunately, it's a £500 car, so don't expect everything fuel-up/oil change documented. Belt was changed 'recently'.
Car is still in Leamington Spa! Unfortunately, I'm heading home in a different car tonight, but will be back down on Monday morning.
