I'm sure this used to be powered by two RoverV8s. Don't hold me to that tho.

Yes! This was in my TopTrumps deck when I was a wee nipper. The BHP figure beat anything else, it was 1100...

Ah, the Special Unknown! I couldn't get the usual sources (RAC and eBay Motors) to bring anything up against the VRM, and obviously without a make I couldn't get the Doovla site to work!

I could be wrong but to me it looks like it has two rear diffs so each engine powers one each. Just had a quick look and found this pic which shows 2 diffs -

It had a powerful computer controlling the two gearboxes and drive (well powerfull for 1981) it read the 8 prop bolts either side and used that to calculate the drive. Also had one of the first fly by wire throttles. The computer would shut the one of the engines down if it went out of sync with the other by more than 500 rpm under that it could compensate for it. That design was so far ahead of its time its not true. I want it bad... Group buy anyone??

I'd rather loose by a mile cause I built my own car than win by an inch because someone else built it for me. Your car is your story, so don't let anyone else write the book.

Just spied this on ebay, properly mental car from a bygone era of British customisation. This pic sums it up really: HoTWire[/a] HoTWire - one for this year's RRG?[/quote] Is that Mike Collins from Street Machine Mag driving it ?

Anyone actually know how the twin diff axle actually worked? Was there two diffs or was it just a gimmick and both the casings were open inside?

As a long-time fan of the car, I'd buy it in an instant, given the resources, thats all there is to it. God knows what the registration status is and by jingo would it need work (not least a custom ITB/ECU setup to control the engine, as the computer must surely be ga-ga by now), but a piece of UK custom history such as this needs to be saved, and done right. I'm still pinching myself that he's finally put it up for sale.
